Default Reading v. Middlesbrough on FSC Aug 19 [R]

It feels like the end of an era (albeit a short era for me). In the two years I've been following Reading, I've seen them live once and have never seen them on TV. But I religiously followed them on internet radio, giving up sleep to wake up early on Saturdays, risking the internet police while I listened in at work, and once I even coughed up enough dough to listen in at a Kinkos after flying into Phoenix before driving down to a cousin's wedding in Tucson.

And now, a week away still, the DVR is set and my nerves are in overdrive... I'll actually get to SEE them play (I don't care about the delay, it will be live to me!!). I know it won't happen every week and that's OK - I'd miss those quiet early mornings at the computer - I'm over the moon just to get to see them every few weeks!!!

Here we go... Premier league!!!

Yes, it will be great to actually see them pretty frequently this year on TV and through internet streams, instead of just listening to the games nervously. I'm hoping I'll be able to find a stream for the Middlesbrough match, because I know damn well I won't be able to stay away from the result until the afternoon.

I'm very nervous about these first few games because they are part of one of the easiest stretches in the schedule, and a failure to do well during that stretch would be disappointing and put the team in a poor position. A win to kick off the first season of Premiership football at Madejski Stadium would be great.

Can you put an R in the thread title so we can use this as the "official" match thread?

I generally don't like predicting matches that I have an interest in, but this is the first Premiership match..its at the Mad Stad..I'll go with a 2-1 win for Reading with a late score from Kitson. I just have a good feeling about it, and I'm generally pretty negative. I'm not going to be able to sleep Friday night.

I think you can just go to edit on the first post, then change the title to add an [R] at the end. I'm not quite sure about that, though.
