Let's go RBS! What venue are they playing in? And is this a 2 legged game?

They are in Salzburg (very late kickoff!) as the first half of the home-and-away series.

Oh please, Jamison. Unless you're actually on the pitch its a bit silly to say "we" but many of us do so anyhow, eh? Surely we can take some joy from our siblings' accomplishments.

Red Bull Salzburg was founded in 1933 as Sports Verein Austria Salzburg, combining Salzburger Vereine FC Hertha and FC Rapid.
Verein is German for Association. Many German speaking teams have SV as part of their name.

June 5, 2003, the name was changed to Red Bull Salzburg. Like most Euro Sports Association, Red Bull has teams other than soccer. Their is also a RedBull Salzburg Hockey team. FOR more info (auf Deutsch), see: Red Bull History

I don't know why uefa still uses SV Salzburg.

The logo on uefa.com is the Red Bull logo with the Red Bull name removed. Kind of awkward looking and almost seems like they are trying to keep all Red Bull references out or something. Obviously someone doctored the logo...

It's a horrendous doctoring job. They also changed the yellow circle into a soccer ball and squeezed in FC in front of Salzburg.

UEFA does not allow "brand Names" or "product Logo's" in the team names as they do not want to advertise that product (unless they get a share of the revenue).

Regardless of UEFA's silly position, I'm still stunned that RBS have modified the crest on their own kits in CL play. Who exactly made the modified crest?

Here is the single best merch and marketing opportunity for them and the top their wearing is something they aren't selling. I wonder to what degree they've negotiated with UEFA on this, and whether or not adidas were involved (given Didi's rumoured close relationship with Adi).

So I guess when we play in the World Club Championship we'll simply be referred to as "New York."

so if they hold on and win the 2nd leg, does that mean they qualify for the Champions League group play?

Tongue was in check, my man. :p

It's cool that they won, but I was just noting that-at times- it's funny to be cheering for the other wing of our empire.

    YES.

In regards to product placement and champions league, its funny that Bayer is allowed to keep their logo.
