I fear if nobody gets injured he will begin on the bench. I really like Smolarek as he is a hard working guy, but this season might begin tough for him. But he will surely get his playtime and hopefully can add some goals at least.

Man, very streaky. I dunno about him. He seems to be a good player, but with Valdez und Frei, and Pienaar, he could have a tough time getting playing time.

I would like it if you don't spam the board with a Thread for every single play .....

I think Smolarek is going to the bench. And deservedly so.

Two goals in the final 21 matches when you're supposed to be the team's "goal-getter" will do that to a guy.

But, he will have a chance to be our "joker", or the guy we call off the bench when we need a goal.

I think he'll also go back into the lineup when Frei, Valdez, or Odonkor is hurt or just needs a rest.

But I think he's going to start the season on the bench. And he has only himself to blame.
