Default Joe Cole and Brian McBride

Tabloid tittle-tattle:

Moyes is believed to be monitoring 21-year-old Cole and will make a firm bid for him if West Ham are relegated.

Everton, who are at home to the Hammers on Saturday, are chasing a top-six finish and a Uefa Cup place.

And Moyes will use the pull of European competition to lure Cole to Goodison Park.

West Ham have already spoken to Cole about signing a new long-term deal, but any decision has been put off until the club's Premiership fate is sealed.

Cole is reported to have become good friends with Rooney during last month's friendly international against Australia at Upton Park.

Moyes has revived Everton's fortunes since taking over the club 12 months ago and the board are ready to back him further by making more cash available.

Everton also want to extend Brian McBride's loan from Columbus Crew for another 18 months.

We are hoping to reach an agreement with Brian McBride in the next few days

Everton boss David Moyes

The 30-year-old American striker has been a major success with four goals in six starts.

"Brian has been done well," said Moyes. "When Kevin Campbell was injured, we had lacked someone to play his role.

"A year ago I questioned the commitment and attitude at Everton but Brian has those qualities in abundance."

McBride is due to return to the United States on 1 April after completing three months at Goodison.

But Everton hope to renegotiate a new deal and agree a valuation with the Major Soccer League in the States.

Moyes added: "Because of Brian's age we don't want to spend too much but we are hoping to reach an agreement in the next few days."

It looks like Mcbride and the MLS have been made another offer by Everton while the Cole deal was laughed at by David Moyes. In a statement to the Liverpool echo he said that Everton do not have the money for a player of Coles calliber. The 8Million pounds it would take is far out of our reach.

shame I would have loved to see him at Goodison

go on a run, win some matches, solidify that fourth position in the table amd id say cole is perfectly within reach - with champions league money, you could still go out and add a solid defender

Well thats the Idea of Keeping Mcbride, but even with Europe Most of the money will be needed to rebuild Evertons training facilities, New stadium, Also Li Tie and Joseph Yobo contracts will be Due. Add that with the fact that Everton have a small side they will need to add to it and 8 Million that would cost for Cole could be better spent on a few players needed for the extra strain on playing in the Europe.

Does Everton even have 8 million to spend? I don't think so.

Actually we will have the money to spend in the summer. Record attendance this year will give Everton more than they expected, couple that with European play next season should give us more than 8 million.

McBride was terrific last night against DAU. He created both Buddles goals.

Thanks for taking good care of him. Sorry about Radzinski. I never liked Pistone anyway.

No you can't have him back.
