Spanish sports daily Marca has confirmed this. Real Madrid will stay in Utah the entire time, flying to/from Seattle the day of the match (kind of stinks for autograph/photo seekers in Seattle).

Well, I'm out of the country on August 9 anyway, but this totally sucks.

OTOH, I'm sure there are some DCU fans in the Pacific NW who never get to see the team live.

I doubt it, even with the start time being 10:30pm. I think the Orioles are on TV on Comcast. anyone think ESPN would pony up a 2 hour slot on the Duece?

Sounds like we've already formed a Western Brigade for those on the other side of the Continental Divide. We rule. Ha.

What better way to showcase MLS than playing 5,000 miles from the home ground of the team with actual fans. I am so proud of MLS right now...I'm going to be verklempt...talk amongst yourselves...

So this is what MLS has come to.

Its most famous team has to barnstorm around the country playing rinky-dink teams in obscure venues.

I'm sure there's a very important World Series of Darts match that they HAVE to air instead.

According to the ESPN.com tv listings, ESPN has the Yankees vs. White Sox; ESPN2 has Wednesday night fights; ESPNU has the Ecuador vs. Costa Rica match from the World Cup. If ESPN wanted to air this, I only see them bumping the World Cup match on ESPNU, maybe Wednesday night fights.

Comcast hasn't anything listed for that day. The Orioles are at Toronto, but that is a 12:35pm game, so it is possible that the orioles would not interfere with a 10:30pm start for Comcast to show this match.

Baseball games can drag on awhile, but I would hope that the O's could wrap it up in 9 hours and 55 minutes. ;)

You know, Reykjavik has a nice soccer stadium, has perfect weather for soccer in August, and is also only a 5 hour or so flight away....

    Why not in Iceland?

    Why not FSC or Goltv.
This sounds more like something they'd show... although i'd frankly rather have the Comcast crew doing it than Max Bretos or Christian Miles

I still think that this would fall under the marketing rights of MLS/SUM and aren't FSC and MLS/SUM still not friends? Didn't ESPN/ABC basically make MLS/SUM break off all ties with FSC? That might be why FSC might not get this match.

I think Comcast would be the most likely. ESPN has agreements with the promoters for these Wed/Fri Night Fights--it would be extremely difficult to bump that, unless they made kickoff at 11, if WNF is over then.

I just sent a nice email to the folks at Comcast. Hoping to hear back from them. Perhaps more of yall could send some notes their way asking them to consider putting the event on TV.

I never heard that about Disney making MLS breakup with FSC. I heard that SUM told FSC they would have to pay a rights fee (and possibly do their own production of matches) since ESPN was getting ready to pony up money and FSC said No.
