The seeding for Asian Cup 2004 was based on Asian Cup 2000 results. Also, the seeding for the 2007 Asian Cup qualifiers was based on the 2004 event results. If AFC uses the same system, this is the Asian Cup 2004 ranking:

    Japan
    China
    Iran
    Bahrain
    Uzbekistan
    Jordan
    Korea Republic
    Iraq
    Oman
    Kuwait
    Indonesia (host)
    Turkmenistan (did not enroll)
    Saudi Arabia
    Qatar
    United Arab Emirates
    Thailand (host)

Let's assume the highest ranked teams qualify from each group:

Group A: Japan and Saudi Arabia
Group B: Iran and Korea Republic
Group C: Oman and United Arab Emirates
    Group D: Australia and Bahrain
    Group E: Iraq and China
    Group F: Uzbekistan and Qatar

    These would be the pots:

Pot A: Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam
Pot B: Japan, China, Iran, Bahrain
Pot C: Uzbekistan, Korea Republic, Iraq, Oman
Pot D: Saudi Arabia, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Australia

    Possible draw:

Group A: Malaysia, Iran, Korea Republic, United Arab Emirates
Group B: Vietnam, Bahrain, Oman, Saudi Arabia
Group C: Thailand, China, Iraq, Qatar
Group D: Indonesia, Japan, Uzbekistan, Australia

AFC used to decide seeding of the final tournament with the performance of Last three asian cup final tournaments, thus the ranking will be

    Code:
    Rankings of 1996,2000,2004 Asian Cup

    1.JAPAN 3 16 12 3 1 41- 15 39
    2.IRAN 3 15 7 6 2 31- 14 27
    3.CHINA 3 16 6 4 6 30- 20 22

    5.SOUTH KOREA 3 14 6 3 5 25- 21 21
(again, Big 4 + China holds the top 5 place)

    11.JORDAN 1 4 1 3 0 3- 1 6
(Dangerous team, all Sucked in 1996 & 2000 But did well in 2004 )

    18.TURKMENISTAN 1 3 0 1 2 4- 6 1

I know it's early to predict, and it's also hard to judge too.

The final four in Asian Cup 2007 would be Korea, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Australia.

However, all the talk pre the Australia-Bahrain game is of how "Australia must secure the group win to get a seeding for the Asian Cup finals."

    or:

    This would suggest either:
1 - The comments are delusional (and you can't rule that out), or
2 - There will be a new seeding scheme (ditto).

Possible the group winners will be ordered as Edgar has it (seeded 1-6 of the 12 qualifiers) and the runners-up up ranked 7-12.

But then I haven't seen anything official. It does seem odd, however, that it's always described as "a seeding". There is NO WAY we can be 1-4 unless they rank via FIFA ranks - we would have to be 6th (if group winners get preference), which is hardly a "seed".

    Huh
Bro when did you get a yellow card and why?

While Saudiarabia tears every team coming in their way in Asia, Meanwhile maybe you should worry about Australia. Heard they won only by 2-0 against Bahraini kids.

We do need to work on stuff for sure, but on the other hand the Bahraini's were diving (or collapsing) every time ( double what the italians do) the ref had a shocker with letting things go for bahran but not us. And they were pretty much playing all men behind the ball, even when we were in the box.

    Terrible game
