What's everybody's favorite or experiences in one or. . . I guess. . . everybody's favorite experiences in one. . . if you know what I mean. No, seriously, folks, I'll be here all week.

Feel free to talk about airlines, airports (I know there's another thread on them in Travel), which airlines have the best looking flight attendants, jet lag, current pilots, John Travolta, or anything else you feel fit.

Oh yeah, my favorite is the Boeing 757-200 or -300. They're just so sexy.

Yeah - I like the way they look too - tall landing gear, sleek fuselage, big, low-slung engines. Looks cool.

Question

Has anyone ever gotten to fly in a Gulfstream? If I ever win the lottery I'm gonna buy me a Gulfstream V.

I've flown in a Falcon 2000 a few times. It is extremely nice.

Among passenger jets, I'm a big fan of the DC-10/MD-11 line. It's extremely underrated, in my opinion. I also like the L-1011.

I've never flown on a 777, but would like to. I seriously doubt I'll ever fly on the Airbus 3XX (or whatever it's numbered now). Too big, and I still haven't heard how they're going to accomplish the loading and unloading in a reasonable amount of time.

My old man flew a Gulfstream II a couple years back. It was an older model, but he liked it a lot. I was a passenger on a Citation V recently. It was really nice for such a small plane.

I have never flown in a Gulfstream, but if I do win the lottery I'm going for the Gulfstream V, Citation X, or of course the Boeing Business Jet.

Also, having spent most of my time in Minnesota and all of my airport time in Minneapolis, I have yet to see an L1011. I'm not sure, but doesn't Delta still have a few in service?

I believe Delta phased out the last L-1011 a few years ago in favor of the B-777 and 767. I don't think any U.S. airlines still fly them, but I know they're still in service in other countries.

I think my first L1011 was Eastern Airlines (not flight 401, luckily), and both Delta and TWA used to have a bunch. They are retired from all US carriers. Used to call them Whisperliners.

Here's an old UA one.

I was never a big fan of the DC10s. 727s either.

BTW, instead of buying a G-V or Citation X, use Netjets. Partial ownership, they handle all of the work and you pay a lot less. Being a millionaire, after all, is about keeping the money, not spending it. Well, it's a little about spending it.

On the 777, they're very nice. I flew UA from JFK to Tokyo and back. Even on a 14 hour non-stop flight it is a comfortable plane. Seatback video, the works. I flew a Singapore Airlines 777 a couple of years ago and they had Nintendo in every seat so I played Super Punch Out from Singapore to Bali. Cool stuff. It is my current favorite airplane. Also nice are the new A319/320s. Very smooth plane.

I loathe commuter jets in general because the seats are small and I can't stand up in them (6'3"), but the ERJ is the best of them.

Airbus A330 with the personal entertainment system on every seat. I didn't want to get off the plane when we landed in London as I had only seen 2 of the 6 movies and hadn't even started the TV shows. These systems are starting to pop up on other planes but the A330 is the only one (correct me if I'm wrong) for which it is standard on all planes.

the A380 looks real nice... I just wonder how they will manage to demonstrate its landing capabilites in Toulouse .... I am in mad love with the A340-600... I have never seen a better looking aircraft (both on the in and outside)...

Although I will be getting a Cessna 172SP given the chance, and maybe even a Baron 58...
