Default MFLS: Brew City Division

Brew City News (29-July)

League Cup: Millville United continue to set the League pace by edging Millville United FC 48:44. It was a week of close games, as Aviators swapped into the second place position held by the side they defeated, Top Shelf, 44:41. In the 2nd Division, Princeton Tigers 02 retained the top spot with a 46:44 victory over Guinness Gulpers FC, who held onto the second promotion spot because third place Victoria Bitter FC lost by an even larger margin, 33:48 to Alewive FC. In the 3rd Division, the top four teams all won, while bottom feeding NE Arsenal, Wadingpool FC, Philadelphia Atoms and Midnights Children have only six points between them in twelve matches. (None of those points coming against the top four sides.)

All-Star Break: There are no real MLS matches this upcoming weekend (August 3), so the next round of MFLS competition will be on August 10. Sorry, but this Wednesday (July 31) matches do not count for any Brew City competitions.

Preston,
I know matches didn't count last night, but you have Aug. 10th listed as week 20, where it will be week 21 and so forth. Might cause some confusion down the road.

Noticed on another thread that Hal's Aviators are down to 0 transfers remaining. If that's true of many of the top teams, my midshelf Midnights Children may be ready to climb back into the hunt (7 moves still to use).

A team called IFC, ranked 6th overall, still has 15 transfers left!

Default Week 21 news

League Cup: If the games this week were close, it was only because the scores were so low. Mediocrity reigned to the benefit of teams needing results to stay in contention. In the 1st Division, Top Shelf moved from third to first by defeating Abracadabra 17:3, while previous leaders Millville United lost to relegation threatened France, 4:19. The 2nd Division leaders were the only side to retain top spot, Princeton Tigers 02 eeking out a 5:5 draw against fifth place Victoria Bitter FC. In the 3rd Division, Bandeirantes Internacional retained the league's only perfect record with a 11:3 win over second place St. Louis Cure. Darcian Greywacke moved from third into second thanx to a massive point difference of +68. In the Toilet Bowl battle of the league's two pointless bottom teams, Midnight's Children were the side who salvaged some respect with a 15:7 win over Philadelphia Atoms.

p.s. - Do not ever, ever, ever give any money to CoreComm or Voyager.Net: They blow monkeys.

Brew City News (19-Aug)

League Cup: Top Shelf retained the top spot in the the league for the second week running, with a 42:23 victory over JC Comets. Four 1st Division teams are level on nine points, separated only by 'goal' difference. Aviators moved from fourth place into second courtesy of a 33:27 win over France. FC Metrofan CP are set for the drop with two weeks to play. In the 2nd Division, Princeton Tigers 02 also retain the top spot, despite losing a close one at home, 15:17 to Shaolin Mystigods. Three teams are level on nine points for the other promotion spot, with Phoenix TS holding a healthy advantage at +58 'goals' over third place Surreywood Rangers only on +10. Only four points separate Tigers 02 from seventh place Mystigods, so no 2nd Division team is assured of staying up. There were no real changes in the 3rd Division, Bandeirantes Internacional continuing to hold the league's only perfect record due to a Bandeirantes Internacional 34:19 win over Austin Rovers, guaranteeing Internacional promotion. Philadelphia Atoms are also perfect, but not in the way they'd prefer, having lost every match including this week's 24:-9 blowout by seventh place Wadingingpool FC.
