Comedy Centrals hit show Crank Yankers . . .
What do you think of this show? Real crank phone calls to unsuspecting people. Comes on Sundays Nights. Actually Howard Stern was doing this type of gag on his show. Everyone always rips off Howard. But the Crank Yankers show is funny. I could do without the puppets reinactment. A CD is already out with Crank Yankers outtakes by CC.
I dont think I could lie and be brave enough to be a phone prankster. I'm surprised most victims are patient and put up with the charade trying to understand. One guy tonight called a restuarant to order food and the cranker acted like he threw up a few times with his fake sound effects. The victim was quiet and didnt know what to say.
Opinion?

I watch it sometimes, and while it has its moments, I always find myself wanting it to be funnier than it actually is. You have to have the puppets, because without them this is just a Jerky Boys ripoff and you might as well save Comedy Central the money and put out a CD, but the puppets do make it...bizarre.

I'm not entirely sure that the idea of crank phoning people can be a ripoff of anyone. It's hardly that novel. People did it well before the Jerky Boys and Stern.

The one with the guy with OCD and kept asking the woman to say "OK" was quite funny.
The rest were average.

I hope you're not calling the one where they call the voice personals ("I want a girl with a budonkadonk butt. . . ") "average."
Or the "I've got mail!" one.
But yeah, a lot of them are kind of so-so, but overall it's worth watching.

I have heard alot of those calls on the Stern show. Trust me they are much funnier without the puppets. The puppets detract from the fact that these are real phone calls.

Special Ed is classic. Howard Stern had the comedian that does Special Ed call "Gary the Retard" from the Stern show and he did a bit about Special Ed replacing Gary. It was evil, but very funny.

David Alan Grier is brilliant. I remember listening to Loveline on the radio when he first did the throwing up bit, like six years ago. So I was really amused to see it on Crank Yankers.
DAG on Loveline is some of the funniest stuff I've ever heard. An example:
