Default BVB's upcoming talents

New thread to introduce some of the hottest BVB talents as we have simple that many. :-)

David Vrzogic

16y old left back that already made some test matches with the pro squad. He will, like Sahin and Tyralla already did, directly step up from B-Youth (15-17y) to senior level. I haven't seen him play yet (maybe I get the chance during this season's B-Youth championship finals). He might be someday the one to step up when Dede retires.

Thank you jonam for this. It helps us Yanks who can't read German get a good handle on who exactly our up and comers are. Can't wait to see how Vrzogic does for the Senior side and can't wait for this thread's next installment!

Exactly! Especially now that we have a trainer who isn't running them all off and actually TEACHING them how to reach their potential!

Here is an article from "kicker" on Vrzogic and some of the others.

Looks like we're losing Caliskan.

Dortmund: Van Marwijk High On David Vrzogic (16)

Borussia’s Next (Talent) Windfall

They are scarce. And desired. "The entire world", says Bert van Marwijk (54), "the entire world seeks it." And rarely finds one. Left backs are an endangered species, so endangered that 16 year-old David Vrzogic is already considered a (talent) windfall for Borussia Dortmund, the Bundesliga’s seventh placed team last season.

The U-17 international has been training with the professionals for a week and wants to be there even after the team of 24 players is announced.
Vrzogic, who joined Borussia as a nine year-old from “Green-White” Wuppertal, is “a young man with possibilities”, proclaimed van Marwijk.

Like Nuri Sahin (17), he wants to leave the ranks of the A-Junior defenders and become a part of the BVB “Leading Talents”, that has recently produced such promising talents as Odonkor, Brzensak and Kruska and is a reason the club is known for it’s excellence in “educating” young talents.

****Just think if kids like Krontiris and Casey were given time to grow instead of being pushed out………

“A couple of the boys have made the breakthrough”, said a happy van Marwijk. “However, they cannot tip-toe in, they must give everything.” In addition to that, new generation aces like Sebastian Tyrala are being brought along carefully.

The offensive all around player (midfield, striker), who missed all of last season due to injury is back and want to confirm the sentiment that he is a talent similar to Sahin, who according to the “Manchester Evening News” is the target of Manchester United’s interest as a potential replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo, who wishes to leave Manchester. A transfer fee of about nine million Euros is what is being rumored. Hans-Joachim Watzke (47), who learned of this rumor from “kicker” said, “We’ve heard nothing about this.”

However, they do know of the intention of Turkish top league club Vestel Manisaspor to sign midfielder Nizamettin Caliskan (19, two Bundesliga appearances). Caliskan has already agreed to contract terms with this potential new employer, today (Monday), a delegation from the Turkish club is expected in Dortmund to negotiate a transfer fee.

It is believed a fee of about 250,000 Euros is being discussed.

Caliksan’s BVB contract runs out next year.

What a pity. I thought that Caliskan was something special. Good luck to him in Turkey!

Has he figured at all with any of the German youth teams yet? I remember he wanted to switch associations to Germany, but I never heard anything after that.

Here's what I said on the list......

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

From Westline: "Sammy" Caliskan, BVB offensive midfielder has taken a trip to Turkey. The 19 year old will soon leave for Vestel Manisaspor (As reported by "Westline" and in the "kicker" article posted here yesterday). BVB Director of Sport Michael Zorc said, "We have a verbal agreement with the Turks.". All that's missing are the signatures.

My comments: Damn. I wish this kid all the luck in the world. He really impressed me in his two appearances for us. Especially at Bayern. But, as crowded as our midfield is already, he wouldn't have gotten a good shot with us. At least he's not going to another German club. This is a kid I hope one day finds his way back to us.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I had the chance and could see some players in several youth matches.

The biggest talents certainly are Sebastian Tyrala, David Vrzogic, Abdenour Amachaibou and Nico Hillenbrand. I left out guys like Kruska, Sahin etc because they're already a good part of our squad.

I'm quite interested how Fisnik Zejnullahu will play for our Amateur Team. Heard a lot of good things about him.

Vrzogic is an amazing player. He's great in defense and offense - his crosses are always precise. No doubt, he's going to have a bright future in Dortmund and in Germany's national team. Good leftbacks are always rare you know

Good stuff!
Is Vrzogic's family from Croatia? What about Zejnullahu's and Amachaibou'?
