Default Ivan IV's family footy results...

My 9 year old son had a hat trick yesterday in a rousing win 7-4. I coach this team.

My 5 year old son had a hat trick yesterday in a rousing win 8-2.

My 12 year old had an assist in his middle school game. We won 4-2. I also coach this squad. Playoffs start this week. 1st time in school history...(he he first team too!)

I slightly pulled my left hamstring and right groin in a lopsided victory over much hated crosstown rivals "Lube Pros"! Or the "blue bastards" as we at "Garden of Eden Landscaping" call them. To give you an idea of this rivalry think of God's team, THFC, playing the gooners... oops, I also had an assist .

Needless to say I have been beaming most of the weekend!

you seem justifiably proud of your boys' accomplishments; and yet you've named yourself after a man who killed his son with his own hands.

for their sake, i hope you aren't secretly longing to subdue large chunks of central asia and siberia, and to consolidate the russian empire.

congrats to the lads, and don't make father angry.

brilliant! i've said it before, and i'll say it agian - you just can't beat Romanov humor.

hey, here's one:

Q: why did Nicholas I cross the Bosphorus?

A: to get to the other side.

ha! get it?! you see, it WASN'T to encircle Istanbul, choke off the Ottoman Empire, and gain permanent control over the Balkans, as well as easy access to central Asia, and, ultimately, India. the whole Crimean War was for NOTHING!!!

oh, geez, that one always cracks me up.

Crap!!

The middle school team(my 12 yr old) I coach dropped a close heartbreaker in the first round of our tourney yesterday. We're done for the year.

2-1. We almost didn't play. Thunderstorms caused a delay of over 25 minutes. Then our school A.D. talked it over with the refs and the other school A.D. and they all decided that we had to get the game in because neither team could get a reschedule date. So we played after the storms passed(which was fine) but they shortened the halfs to 20 minutes!! Ugh!!

The kids played very well, probably the best game all season. We just needed about 20 more minutes, lol.

The other team scored in the 17th minute of the 1st half.

Then we scored on a PK in the 3rd minute of the 2nd half.

It kept a steady drizzle the whole match. Ball was soaking wet as was the ground. It didn't affect either team to badly until the 18th minute of the 2nd half. They got a corner which our keeper played perfectly until it slid out of his hands. Somehow none of our defenders were in a position to boot it out of the goal area and they simply tapped it in.

It was the first footy team in school history and we actually had a very good season.
W L D
4-3-2

With a tourney appearance.

i swear, i'm still waiting for the punch line. a letter requesting a replay? a lawsuit, perhaps? was the other school's AD on the association board?

as of yet, i'm not laughing.

No one here is either.

Our A.D. suggested the 20 minute halfs! I know he was taking into consideration the fact that there might be more thunderstorms coming through and the weather here has been horrible this spring. Over twenty tornadoes so far.

That said, I would've liked to have played the regular time and just had a shortened halftime break. I informed him of this but it made no difference. The group(Town Council) that runs the park weighed in and agreed to let us play but only with the shortened halves.
We actually drew with this team earlier in the season 4-4 and if it had been cancelled we would have beaten them in the tie breakers. But we wanted to beat them on the field. I feel we would have had we had more time.
