Default Le Barometre des Bleus

Eurosport has a new regular feature which is trying to track potential French players form for the WC and show who they think is doing well and who is doing poorly.

Obviously what Eurosport perceives and what goes on in Domenech's head are probably two completely different things but they do a good job of summing up recent performances so I think its interesting.

Here's the latest edition:

22 goals for Trez so far this season. not bad.

and Sagnol has been getting a lot of praise from Eurosport lately. Revelliere will have trouble competing.

Boumsong up? He has made alot of stupid mistakes this season. I don't see him as a good player.

The barometer rates the chances of being called up game by game based on their last performance or string of performances.

Petite éclaircie dans le ciel nuageux de Jean-Alain Boumsong. Le Français est rentré en fin de match face à Birmingham (0-0). Peut-être un début de retour en grâce ?
A little bright spell in Jean-Alain Boumsong's grey sky. The Frenchman came on the pitch against Birmingham at the end of the game (0-0). Maybe a beginning of a come-back in the limelight ?

See ? Nothing really enthusiastic.

Yes coming off the bench and keeping a clean-sheet against a relegated side is a real improvement.

You just know Ray will pick Vikash on account of one great French Cup performance.

Hopefully Silvestre is out for you guys.. he is trash at United Evra really is not that much better. He has yet to play a full game I think, he always gets taken out right after halftime (56 minutes today) when he does start.

Either he is incredibly slow at adapting, can't cope with the pace of the EPL (and one would assume international play as well), or he is a just trash. And as a United-first fan I tend the lean towards the last right now.

Silvestre looked shite today. If he wants to play on the left, then Ray should be looking at his opposite number - Francky Queudrue.

Evra didn't leave Monaco on a high, that was a little bit of a surprise to see him at ManU BTW. So, if that can reassure you, what you're witnessing is likely to be far from what he had done best. Just hope he can find it again.

PS : Are those two players making ManU shaky or is it the opposite ?

I don't really know, Evra has yet to look the part. Just frail and weak mostly, can't cope with the pace of the game (seemingly) nor the stronger attackers (build wise). I personally think if he has any future at United it is at Left wing and have been wanting him to go up there alot. Because a) we have no real wingers (the players that play winger here are mostly converted strikers/attack mids) b) he hugs the sideline as most fullback do and has contributed well to offense when given the chance. He just doesn't do well on defense.

Silvestre is a wierd case because I always liked him since I started watching (only 5 or 6 years ago in 01-02). But he played left back back then. If you watched the Arsenal match recently, thats how I remember him. Good going forward with good crossing and pace. He definatelly can't play CB at the club much less international level. He doens't have the mental capacity, for lack of a better term, to play it. Although for stretches in the past 3 seasons he and Rio have done pretty well. But he makes stupid decisions alot and needs good CBs behind him, which is why I think he's better at LB. I don't think he likes playing LB though, so...

Another thing about Evra is that he came at the same time as Nem. Vidic, who is a big brute that is amazingly tough in the tackle. This guy has done fantastic so far for the most part and is really overshadowing Evra in terms of impact versus time at the club. Hopefully, Evra can turn it on next season for us and this summer for you guys.

edit: apprently Evra DID play left winger today and he played not good up there either, more update to come. (sorry if this is [R] please edit if so.)
