Default Dede today signed a new contract till 2011!

Just announced by BVB's official website, that Dede who had a contract still one year running extended for another 4 years.

Really, really great news! You can't believe how happy I am. One of the best Bundesliga left backs, one of the most loyal players and one of the few Brazilian footballers that have a mix of Brazilian temperament and German discipline!

p.s.: Hopefully we will get Metzelder to sign a new contract (2007), but Christoph right now doesn't want to extend. Maybe after the world cup.

2011! How old will he be in 2011? Maybe a good extension would be 2009, but yea it was good that BVB kept him there.

He'll be 32 by then, but don't let that fool you. To begin with, if one of the key points in his decision to re-sign was the length of the contract the club was offering, then I'm fine with potentially giving him one year too many if it means we have him with us for the next few. Not to mention the fact that guys like Jurgen Kohler and Christian Wörns have shown in recent times that if you're still good enough then age isn't an issue at this club, and god knows he's not going to lose the support of Borussia fans anytime soon. This is indeed great news and, as Manoj pointed out, if we can get Christoph to re-sign as well then that would be perfect.

I think Metze is pissed with BvM , because Brenner played not him. Other Clubs telling him he can be a starter , like .................. Werder Bremen

We'll really have to fight to keep him with us

Fantastic news. He's been a great player for the club and I have no doubts he will continue on with his good displays.

I disagree. I think he wants to know that he won't be put on the bench again with us and nothing more. He knows the competition is even stiffer at Werder and Schaaf will NOT give him a guarantee he's going to play.

Metzelder is better than Baumann, and that's what they're going for, but Baumann will be given every chance to keep his spot.

I think Metze is staying with us. He's just going to think things through as he should.

If we can only get more people to see that with certain players, age isn't an issue.

Great comment man!!

we have a guy on trial at Newcastle right now, we thought it could be Dede until I read he signed a new contract (even though contracts mean nothing these days ).the resemblence is uncanny......so please confirm Dede is still at Dortmund so we dont get our hopes up ....we're desparate for a left back and he seemed like the logical player

Even a blind guy can see thats not Dede
Even if you brits would like it .... If Dede signs a contract he means it ... he is not one of those who only want money and end in the Premier League ... he has loyalty ...
