Easy question. Arena. Of the three world cup teams, Sampson is, well Sampson and Lavolpe is nothing special from what I have seen.

id have to say Vasco Aguirre (Currently with Osasuna)
He took small team in Mexico (pachuca) and fought relegation. And then took them to the finals twice winning one of them. The season that he left Pachuca to coach the national team, Pachuca won the championship again. Granted, a different coach won the title, but using Aguirres players and tactics. Everybody still gives credit to Aguirre for that title
Was called in for the MExican NAtional team at its lowest point ever, and qualfiied.
Not even a month as the head coach of the Mexican national team, and the team were runners up in Copa America.
HE had a good showing in the world cup.
Took a job with a small club in Spain (Osasuna) and have turned some heads over thier way.
IT seems to me that he takes teams that are in trouble and fixes them up.

Manolo Lapuente
I hate Manuel Lapuente (Club America) but he kicked Bruce Arenas Ass everytime they met, Club and Nat team level. He also won a Confed Cup for what its worth. Despite his dreadfull tactics his teams have allways performed well and this includes Clubs World Cup, World Cup, Copa Libertadores, Gold Cup and Copa America...

Lapuente by far is the most respected head coach in all of CONCACAF. HE is one of the few coaches that other coaches try to mirror. You see it so many times, coaches wait for him to make a substitution and change the tactic and as a result they try to counter him. He is also regarded as one of the best by his international peers. THey have sought his services before in South America and Spain.
He is the 2nd most succsessful coach in Mexico winning 5 titles (2 Puebla, 2 Necaxa, 1 America) and 3 runners up. Sinche he joined America a year and a half ago, they have won 1 title and been super leaders in the standings twice. Not bad. HE is known to produce good young players. As I said before, other coaches do try to mimick him (best example is he is like a Bill Walsh. His assistants tend to do well when they get head coaching jobs.
His teams have done well in Copa America, Copa Confederaciones, Copa Libertadores, World Cup, Gold Cup, League play.
Lapuente said that in about 4 years, he will most likely call it quits.
They always criticize him for being too defensive... but time has also proven that his teams are usually among the top in goalscoring.
He is my favorite heach coach in Concacaf... but I still would have to give Vasco Aguirre the edge. Taking small or troubled teams and fixing them up is no easy task and not a lot of people like to take them.,... but every team he has taken... they have been in trouble and he saves them

This thread is about who is the best coach not who has the edge. Manolos achievements speak for themselves. I would rank Bruce Arena right behind him followed by el Vasco Aguirre. However i also feel that Aguirre has the potential to be the best coach of the above mentioned. He is afterall the youngest of the three as far as coaching goes.

i can certainly understand why some would favor aguirre (who i think is fantastic) or lapuente, but i dont really see a dilemna, ill go with BA (who also won a few NCAA titles)
i mean you wanna talk about small and troubled sides... how about the US when he took over? we were an organizational mess and.... uh... sucked
and thats all i have to say about that

So i guess this is an all time CONCACAF thread then...
well if that is the case....
It would have to be
1. Manuel Lapuente (active)
2. Ignacio Trelles (inactive)
3. Velibor "Bora" Milutinovic (NA)
4. Raul Cardenas (inactive)
5. Javier de la Torre (inactive)
Manuel Lapuente. I shouldnt have to say anymoreabout him
Nacho Trelles. The most league titles in Mexican soccer. Deserves to be there for what he did in Mexican soccer as well as at the international level. Nacho did help give Mexico that fighting spirit. He was not the best tactitian, but did motivate his players very well. His teams in the WC lost some close games.
Bora Milutinovic. We all know Bora is as Mexican as they get HE has said many times that he bleeds the blue and gold colors (PUMAS). Bora did okay for himself at the club Level with PUMAS, but is known alot more for his national head coaching tactics. 5 WCs
Raul Cardenas. Winning with America and 5 times with Cruz Azul is not an easy thing. You are under constant criticism.
Javier de la Torre. Winning 5 times with Chivas is not an easy thing either.
Honorable mentions. Javier Aguirre, Bruce Arena, Alexander Guimares (Brazilian naturalized Costa Rican) Herrera (Honduran coach in 82 WC)
