Anyway, I hope Gazza joins you. I wanted him to join the Fusion last year, but we got Bishop. Gazza will probably be better than Bishop, and he was key to turning us into a winning team.

Out of interest, who was the double-header with and what split would you say the crowd was for the double-header and the DC game?

Washington Freedom, most were there for DC United, crowd was very lively and really pissed at the under qualifyed MLS Refs.

Here's my take on the attendance. DCU averages 16K, Freedom averages 6K. Add that together and you get 22K total. The game attendance was 24.5K.

I think each team got its own average to attend, and the extra 2.5K were from Salvadorans who came to cheer DC's new forward Elisio Quintanilla.

I dunno. The WUSA page claims 24k for the Freedom match. Were they all there for the start? did 6k+ walk out before DC-Revs?

As things stand, let both leagues claim the 24k. -- although Julie Foudy will say you guys are just piggy-backing on the Freedom's massive popularity.

I wish I could have seen how the 24k looked on TV. The 14k in Chicago (and roughly the same # in rochester) looked fantastic on the tube -- mainly because the stadiums could barely hold another person.

The perception of success is truly relative. Stadiums of 15-25k are pefect for MLS. But we all know this. I just wonder if we should continue to hold out for new builds or simply move our seasons to smaller college venues, if such can be found. Napervilles without gridirons.

WUSA has no problem televising matches from smaller facilities. Which looks more bush league: nearly empty colisseums or packed, human-scaled stadiums?

Meanwhile, congratulations on the big turnout. Hope Gazza had a good eyeful of MLS action.

Each team/league gets to claim the total attendance for their teams.

When I walked into the stadium with about 10 minutes left in the Freedom match, most of the lower half of the lower bowl was sparsely populated. DC United season ticket holders get priority over the Freedom holders who get displaced....and the denser portions of a DC crowd were the empty seats at the Freedom match.

It was nice to see a large crowd again at a DC match, I'd say that a good 18+k were there for at least most of the DC match. And kudos to that Youth Leadership group that came out and made some good noise, they also came to the Columbus game, and still came back.

Although we don't have season tickets to the Freedom, we have been to some of their games. The Winofamily was there from the start and no, there was no way 24K were there to see the Freedom. There were 5 - 6K before halftime (it reminded me of the Olimpia - DC United game), and the crowd kept getting bigger from halftime until DC United played.
