Seattle Sounders sign Jamal Sutton:

Any input on his abilities would be appreciated. Good luck this weekend, Crew!

Official release...

With a nice pic of Jamal with one of the best Crew hair-do's ever.

The only player in the purge I'm sorry to see go. I'm glad he's landed with a solid club and that we still hold his MLS rights.

Two things:
  1. Jamal should sue the webmaster for using that pic
  2. The roster on the team site doesn't list many players but does list former Crew player Andrew Gregor

If he's in town already I guess I'll find out tomorrow if the hair is still around.

The Sounders start training on Monday but there is a scrimmage with a local college tomorrow morning.

The various photos of Sutton make me wonder if he has struggled with his weight? He looks to be a stocky guy with speed.

How's his passing and finishing?
Has his DEV status run out?

He's the master of the junk shot.

In reality, he scored about 8-9 goals with the reserves, mostly on breakaways. Did the same to the TFKAMSBSKAMSATT in the 90th minute no less.

Yep. he's (Gregor) with us too. In fact he scored one of the 4 pk's that helped bring us the title. I'll post a shot of him with the 2005 USL-1 trophy:

Gregor with a trophy full of Guiness.

Gregor gets his 2005 USL-1 championship medal.

About the Sounders roster...it will eventually be at around 23-25. The announcements have been slow to come this season, which has been the source of some frustration for Seattle fans. Likely we have 8-10 guys "in the pipeline" waiting for league approval of their contracts. Let's hope.

We just lost Preston Burpo and Brent Whitfield to Chivas USA...

Hmmm. Now that I think about it, of course you'll remember this guy, too:

Pointing during Sounder trials is former Crew midifielder Jason Farrell, now our assistant coach after many years as a player here.

He's like Samson. If he shows up looking like Lou Gossett you got screwed.

At his best, Jamal is a fast guy with a nose for the goal. He tore up the MLS reserve league last year. At other times, he seems to drift in and out of matches without making an impact. He's a good guy and this Seattle will enjoy watching him. He had a smoking hot girlfriend too, don't know if she's moving with him.
