What's the allocation list look like these days?

Being a NT "star" he'd have to be selected via allocation...

    Edit: Ahh, here we are...

    1. Chivas USA Missing '05 playoffs --
    2. Kansas City Wizards Acquired a portion of Real Salt Lake's missing '05 playoff allocation (split) --
    3. Columbus Crew Missing '05 playoffs --
    4. FC Dallas Acquired Kansas City's missing '05 playoffs --
    5. Real Salt Lake '05 Competition Committee allocation (split) --
    6. FC Dallas Expansion allocation acquired from L.A. Galaxy Greg Vanney
    7. Real Salt Lake Expansion allocation Clint Mathis
    8. Chicago Fire Portion of missing ’04 Playoffs (split) John Thorrington
    9. Los Angeles Galaxy Acquired FC Dallas’ missing '04 Playoffs allocation Landon Donovan
    10. Chicago Fire DaMarcus Beasley replacement allocation (split) Andy Herron

Wow. He'd probably want to go to LA or Chivas? Both teams would have to move some cap space to afford him, I'd gather...

Any ideas where he'd end up?

Personally, I doubt JOB cares where he goes in MLS...for now...as long as he does not have to play on artificial turf.

No, in the long run, I bet he wants to play in CA.

love that the article says he's fit and ready to be named to the world cup roster.

what better way to get into match shape for the world cup than to return stateside. the eredivisie has like what. 5 matches for the year left. by joining mls he'll get in a further month, month and half?

where's that bluedaddy character to back this up?

Is it too late for him to play at Duke?

I understand the concept of "player allocations", but the practice of it is too much for an average fan to want to follow.

This is one instance inwhich I wish MLS were like other leagues in the US with free agency. I'd love to see JOB just go to the highest bidder and not have any of this allocation BS to deal with.

Rule of Thumb: LA always has cap space.

I think the whole thing sucks...because he won't go to the Revolution.

    Or Columbus...

Although good lord, what a pickup he'd be for the Columbus midfield.

and the Revs will always be the team with the most cap room. It's the Patriot way. ;)

I would bet that LA will give Chivas someone in order to get thier allocation, then sign JOB.

Considering many people feel JOB is the most talented American player, myself included, LA better be giving up something HUGE for getting him. Can they seriously have LD and JOB in the same midfield? That just is not fair.

Of course for USMNT purposes, I would LOVE to see them get some chemistry going before the WC this summer.

Already in negotiations with a team, eh? Chivas makes the most sense. If Doug were around, I bet he'd snag him somehow.

I think JOB would just as soon go to Chivas. Bradley's coaching, and they've abandoned that whole bloodline thing for the time being.

Now if JOB does go to Chivas, and is healthy, the LA clasico just got disgustingly competitive.

That's what I thought only after they got Dunseth, and before they traded Dunseth.

But I don't know, I haven't paid attention to the West lately.

I love it, news travels fast on these boards. The YA, Nats New and Analysis, and now the MLS boards all have thread about JOB. I'm excited but I don't know whether to cross my fingers or do a little dance to celebrate he's fit. :)
Wonderful news, nonetheless, and we should all be happy that he could play his way to Germany now.

It's not my money so I don't give a sh!t, but I wouldn't lay much dough on a guy that is horizontal WAY more that he actually plays..

Not of much in Europe anymore ... thus he's coming to MLS.

Congratulate BD for getting the story.

As a player in the USMNT pool, he'd require an allocation. According to the allocation list, Chivas USA should have right to first refusal, then KC, Columbus, FCD, and RSL (in that order). Chivas doesn't have the cap space, KC is looking at Van Der Bergh, so I would think Columbus would be most likely to go after him with LA (in the 9th spot) trying to trade up for the spot. Alternatively, LA could try to work out a trade with Chivas (probably their allocation plus a high pick in next year's draft).
