FSW Canada.......you suck!
One of the biggest domestic weeks in England. FOUR midweek FA Cup quarter-finals on four straight days. Does FSW Canada have at least ONE of them? Not a chance. Thanks for nothing.
On the other hand, FSC has two live and two on delay.
But hey, at least FSW Canada puts quality programming on their schedule to offset this slight........tonight I had the pleasure of watching "Girl Racers" from 9-10pm (I honestly just checked in as I thought perhaps it was some type of porn, but alas it really was about Racers who are Girls).
Top notch FSWC, top notch.

Re: FSW Canada.......you suck!
Rogers Sportsnet holds the rights, as far as I know. Of course, they have never been big on midweek games, so FSI probably just sold off the games to PPV carriers.

Re: FSW Canada.......you suck!
Instead of bitching about it on here - which I see you regularly do - why don't you let FSWC know how you feel?

As I've said before, JoeBloe if you think CWG is going to let FSWC go down, you're sorely mistaken.
These other channels will struggle to get the subs base that FSWC has - and while YOU say the 'writing is on the wall' - it's in very light pencil because those channels haven't even been approved yet.
But ya - FSWC needs some serious programming help!! Perhaps when they get that new programming agreement signed with FSI, it will get better. It certainly cannot get much worse!

Do you work for CWG and are afraid of losing your job, cause it sounds like it? Or maybe you work for them and are just pi$$ed off at all the negative publicity your channel is getting, which is it?!?
While Joebloe may not be right about his 'predictions' (time will tell if he is or not), one thing is certain 'FSWC sucks and will continue to do so' Global gave up on this channel long ago so get with the program. It is in a worse state then when it first launched, normally a channel is supposed to improve over time not the other way around?! Global wanted to launch a general sports service ala TSN but they failed to do so and now are stuck with a niche sports channel that holds very little promise to them. That is why they applied for an amendment to broaden the nature of the service and expand the number of sports they can show but this was DENIED by the CRTC so now its back to square one.
If the licensing deal with FOX expires this year as Joebloe has mentioned then they very well may 'take their business elsewhere' so to speak. If I were them I would take my business elsewhere, maybe TLN will actually care more about the channel then CWG does about FSWC and actually invest in some quality programming! These channels WILL be approved (that is a mere formality), as I mentioned in another thread about this channel (in case you missed it), they are Cat. 2 and they are CDN services. The CRTC would rather have a CDN service over a foreign one and with Cat. 2 you can have competing services so it doesn't matter that one soccer channel (Gol TV Canada) is already on the air. They will be rubber stamped very soon, then we will see if what JoeBloe is talking about is true?!
As for other channels struggling to get the fanbase FSWC has, "What fanbase are you talking about??", they have so few viewers that Neilson (the ratings company) doesn't even bother with them because its not worth their time; the same goes for the rest of the digital channels. Gol TV Canada is almost available across the country (maybe by summer) then we will see how many viewers they have in comparison to FSWC. FSWC has very little EPL (thanks to Sportsnet & The Score), so what is there to attract viewers and more importantly advertisers?
Give it up, I say time to let someone else in the game and see if they do a better job then FSWC has done, I don't think it should very difficult since FSWC hasn't set the bar real high.

Unfortunately, at this time, FSWC does not own the broadcast rights to FA Cup in Canada. The owner of the Canadian rights has chosen to keep the matches for PPV.
FSC does have the rights for the US, but obviously cannot share the programming if FSWC cannot get rights to it.

The CRTC amendment was actually approved. It allows for a limited amount of coverage of other sports, primarily during the summer (or over christmas when the leagues break) when FSWC has less new content.
Quote:
The Commission therefore replaces the licensee’s condition of licence defining its nature of service with the following condition of licence:
The licensee shall provide a national, English-language Category 2 specialty service devoted primarily to the coverage of cricket, rugby and soccer. No more than 10% of all programming broadcast during the broadcast year shall be dedicated to sports other than cricket, rugby and soccer. With the exception of cricket, rugby and soccer, no more than 5% of the broadcast year shall be dedicated to the live coverage of any one particular sport. The licensee shall not dedicate any coverage to the following men’s sports: ice hockey, basketball, baseball and North American-style football.

Re: FSW Canada.......you suck!
Yes it was approved but the scope was limited by the CRTC, if you noticed the last part of the statement you posted:

Global wanted to be able to show anything, but you can see the CRTC said NO and they are now limited in what 'other sports' they can show. That is what I was referring to when I said it was denied. My mind and hand were not on the same wavelength I guess.

Can you clarify who does have the Canadian rights for the FA CUP?
