Great win. A few too many missed opportunities it would seem, but I guess that's the story of the season thus far. Well done to Pagis on the double, that's the kind of goal-scoring that will see l'OM into the CL if it keeps up.

bad news:

Barthez "felt a sharp electric discharge with the left calf during a release in all end of part, which is connected to 99% with a muscular tear", indicated to the AFP the doctor of the OM , Charles Lankhar.

"It will pass a IRM (imagery by magnetic resonance) Tuesday or Wednesday, but will have to declare fixed price" for the return match of Cut of the UEFA Thursday in Saint-Pétersbourg, and "it appears also difficult that it can be aligned against Lille " Saturday at the time of the 31e day, it added.

I'm ok with Carasso playing. He played well at the beginning of the season. He was a bit shaky against PSG though, but I think he'll do more than an adequate job.

OM 2-0 ASSE: Pagis knocks out Les Verts
OM took the ball by the horns and Mickaël Pagis did the rest. His double against Saint-Etienne on Sunday consolidated the team’s fifth place in Ligue 1. He could even have had a hat-trick...

OM 2-0 ASSE
1-0 Pagis (17)
2-0 Pagis (19)

Until Sunday’s match, no Olympian attacker had managed to score twice in a single league game this season. Mickaël Pagis did it, and in less than two minutes.
He even went within a whisker of having a hat-trick. Successful from a free-kick and with the head, his touch deserted him from the penalty spot. It was after an hour’s play, and there was no doubt as to the outcome of the match.
He was, however, a force to be reckoned with at the start of the match. Marseille, desperate to make up with their supporters after Thursday’s loss to Zenit, made a bright start to the match. But Les Verts weren’t sitting back either and on a counterattack, Barthez came out to deny Piquionne a clear-cut chance.
Shortly afterwards, Pagis had the stadium in rapture with a free-kick. The forward spotted a gap to the left of the wall and fired home a lot shot with precision, under the arms of Janot (17’). His third goal with OM in Ligue 1 was followed just seconds later by his fourth.
The air was still thick with the crowd chanting his name when he prompted a stunning refrain with a magnificent header from Taiwo’s cross (19’). A quick-fire double for maximum enjoyment.
Caught up in the moment, Beye had Janot called into action in the 23rd minute. OM then sat back a little until the break.
In the second half the attacking trio of Maoulida-Pagis-Ribéry served up some more brilliance for the fans. In the 63rd minute Camara brought down Ribéry in the area. Called upon by his teammates to take the spot-kick and with the mouth-watering prospect of a hat-trick for the fans, Pagis stepped up… But Janot went the right way.
After a prominent first 45 minutes, Taiwo pooped up again with a 75th minute free-kick which struck the post. Just before the end, Marseille tried to add another with Ribéry setting up Maoulida, but once again Janot made the save, a save which offered little hope to his side, but did keep the score respectable.

FIRST HALF HIGHLIGHTS
3’: Cross from Maoulida for Ribéry who scuffed his shot.
6’: Oruma releases Taiwo who tries his luck from the edge of the area but Janot gets down well.
8’: Cut back from Ilunga for Postiga who forces Barthez into a fine save.
12’: Superb ball from Sablé releases Piquionne down the middle, but he pushes the ball too far trying to round Barthez.
17’: Goal for OM – Free-kick, low and hard, from Mickaël Pagis into the corner past Janot.
19’: Goal for OM – Cross from the left from Taiwo that Pagis heads home at the front post.
23’: Cross from Maoulida from which Beye headers wide.

SECOND HALF HIGHLIGHTS
52’: Shot from Nasri flashes just wide.
55’: Header over the top from Postiga.
62’: Powerful half-volley from Taiwo from 30m out which narrowly misses.
63’: Camara brings down Ribéry in the box. Penalty. Pagis steps up but Janot gueses right and makes the save.
75’: Free-kick wide, taken by Taiwo who finds the woodwork.
76’: Ribéry profits from Ilunga’s slip to breakthrough. He crosses for Maoulida who sees his effort saved.
86’: Barthez complains of calf injury and is replaced by Carrasso.
90+3’: Piquionne shoots on the turn and Carrasso makes a good save.
