Default BVB strike new sponsorship deal

Borussia Dortmund will have a new jersey sponsor from next season on. RAG will replace E.ON and pay more or less the same amount of cash: 7 Mio plus success-related payments. Contract valid till 2009.

That is (except company-owned clubs like Wolfsburg and Leverkusen) the second highest deal in Bundesliga.

I hate to see the jokes that will come from the English-speaking fans. Especially when a player bleeds on his shirt! LOL!!

The company will be stock-listed next year and give themselves a new name. So it won't be RAG. ;-)

Is it this company? Looks like a good firm, but obviously the name change would be nice.

Yep, it is. Annual turnover of 22 billion Euro, more than 100.00 employees.

Yeah. e-on decided to put their money behind sponsoring the English FA or League Cup, I forget which.

They pretty much bought out their contract with BVB to do so.

When E.ON gave themselves a new name in 1999 and went public (IPO) they needed a quick and efficient way to promote their new name, colours, image etc.. BVB was the perfect vehicle for that purpose and it is proven that E.ON/BVB was the most successful partnership in Bundesliga football. Still now E.ON have achieved their initial goals and go on. They don't need Borussia Dortmund anymore.

RAG will do exactly do the same and use BVB to introduce their new name and prepare their IPO.
