Default Odds on World Cup 2006

I just returned from Las Vegas. I visited the sports book at Caesars Palace and picked up an odds sheet for the 2006 World Cup.

Brazil is a 7/5 favorite. Germans 9/2; England 5/1; USA 8/1

you can also wager on who will win each group. Germany is 2/7 to win Group A; England is 1/2 to win Group B; Brazil is 1/5 to win Group F. USA is 4/1 to win Group E. My sleeper pick (i bet $10) is Angola at 12/1 to win Group D!

For the Chicago crew, I brought back some copies to look at on Saturday during the Blackburn match. Oh and I'm going back to Vegas on Sunday with my wife for vacation so if you want to make a bet....

I'm "betting" they're 8/1 because that book is in the US. Surely someone like Ladbrookes or William Hill won't have those odds. Hell, before the last WC, my roommate found Brazil at 10/1 because of all the disarray they were in.

I'd take the US 4/1 on the group. I'd be curious to know what the odds are on Italy, Holland, and France, as those are the 3 teams I think are gonna produce the winner.

The line opened on April 15, 2005 for the USA to win at 75/1. I am presuming a fair amount of people (drunk?) have placed wagers on the USA, hence the casino shortened the odds.

FYI: Italy is 6/1 to win, 5/7 to win the group.
The Netherlands are 10/1 to win, 7/5 to win its group.
France is 8/1 to win, 2/5 to win its group.

They're giving France better odds than Holland?!

I think phishy might be onto something: Methinks the US odds are missing the 1 in front of the 8.

From Paddy Power, World Cup outright betting: http://www.paddypower.com/bet?action...id=140&id=6520

Brazil 5/2 favourite, England 6/1, Germany 7/1, Argentina 15/2, France 9/1, Italy 10/1, Holland 12/1, Spain 12/1...USA 100/1...Trinidad & Tobago 1000/1.

Holland at twelves is good value, they've been playing well of late. Outside of the favourites, Serbia & Montenegro will be hard to beat and are a good dark horse bet at 100/1.

Those are more like what I expect. I'd take a 10 quid flyer on France, Holland, and Italy at those odds. Hell, I'd probably put down 10 on the US as well for the hell of it.

With those odds I'm going for the upset of the millenium! Come on T&T!

I think the US has better odds than the paddypower ones, but I don't think they'll win it. Quarters again IMO.

The best place to check odds in the English betting market is a website called Oddschecker.com you can have a look at the different betting shops side by side and see the best odds for what you want. Easy to get USA at 100/1 in most places.
