Default FC Champions Cup

How come the Cup seems to last forever each season...Last season for MLS teams it was March-August, matches are spread out everywhere...It really should be a 2-4 month Cup/League...Why not run it from January-April or Jan-March, whatever...but give us some set dates (hahahaha, concacaf, set dates) so the cup actually becomes something, people start to know when its played, and what teams qualify, etc...

Not all Leagues play at the same times of year, so making such an intensive schedule would surely screw up the schedules of several domestic leagues. Continental cups are designed to spread out the games as much as possible so that the leagues are minimally affected.

And overall, there's no reason to think that spreading out the matches is necessarily a bad thing. In fact, the ECL is played every month of the year except June.

Smile FC Champions Cup (mex teams?)

does anyone know when will we know the 4 Mexican entrants into the FC Champions Cup?

Isn't the tournament supposed to start this month. Does anyone know the dates and/or venues?

Thanks!

As we speak Toluca, Morelia, Pumas and Santos are thinking up ways of getting out of it.

No, I meant Toluca, Morelia, Pumas and Santos.

America got stomped in the quarter finals by Santos and Necaxa didn't even make it to the
play offs.

Then my mistake. I thought awhile back someone posted that the Mexican teams in the Cup would be the finalists from last summer, and the finalists from the Apertura.

I can't remember correctly, but I also thought none of the teams I mentioned are involved with the Libertadores this year. Thus, their schedules are somewhat less congested. But of course neither MLS nor MFL or other clubs take the tourney seriously anyways.

I'm sure that Club America will be in the tournament. This Dec. 26 Article (http://www.boston.com/dailyglobe2/36...d_early+.shtml) said the only teams that are assured spots in the Champions Cup are Toluca(winning the Apertura Cup) and Club America(Points leader in Apertura). I think Morelia will be in the tournament as well for making it to the final(though nothing official has come out). What about CF La Piedad they won the summer season Verano 2002, they could be in it as well. However, they are in the Premira A now. guesses). I think Pumas UNAM is in the Libertadores this year.

If Morelia qualifies, the other team probably would be Necaxa. La Piedad moved to, I don't remember well, but they are Jaguares (Chiapas) or Gallos Blanco (Queretaro).
