Tips For Getting a Loan?
Posted this in the Finances forum just now too, but since that is a pretty quiet place I was just wondering if anybody here could lend any advise?
I'm in a bit of a sticky cash situation at the moment, and need to clear it up ASAP. It's nothing that's going to get my thumbs broke, but I really hate letting people down and just want to clear my collective debts before they accumulate even more, as well as get a bit of short-term cash while the job-hunt continues.
I am a middle-class student, studying Film in college, living in the suburbs, aged 19 and am hoping to get about ¢3,500, in case that helps anybody's suggestions. So, can anybody help me out on what might increase the chances of my application being accepted? It would be much appreciated, thanks.

Re: Tips For Getting a Loan?
In the US, student loans are plentiful from places like Citibank or Chase. It won't help if you tell them you don't have a job though, I think that even as a student they'll want to see some source of income (don't know if "online poker hustling" counts ). But then I'm not sure if there are student-specific loans in Ireland the way they have it here. With those, you don't have to pay anything back until some set amount of time after you graduate.
And if that doesn't work, try including it in your list of demands when you climb the bell tower...

Billy, if any limbs (hands, legs, arms, etc.) are in danger, we can start a collection to get you out of trouble.
How good is your credit? I don't know if they do the same credit scoring system in Ireland that they do here. Obviously, the better your credit rating, the better chance you have of getting a loan (at least a better interest rate).

I hate to be a pain, but have you tried reducing your expenses? A penny saved is a penny earned.

Re: Tips For Getting a Loan?
Do you have any assets??? A car, an apartment, anything that you can show equity in that you can borrow against can only help...
If all else fails I'm sure a pawn shop would be interested in a shiny new Powerbook that's rumored to be floating around Dublin these days...
