Who do you want to see at Goodison?
Ok, I know it is a bit soon to start this, but assuming we finish well in the league and are able to secure some decent transfer funds in the kitty who would you like to see at Everton come next season?

How bout another Yank? Like Donovan or Beasley. What positions do you feel Everton are the weakest at?

Midfielders definately. Graveson is a great lad but the others are very much form players. Naysmith, Pembridge, Carsley, Linderoth, Watson, Gemmill and Li Tie - they wouldn't fill me of fear if I was playing against them. Many of them are playing well at the moment but they can often fade out of a game or simply have a loss of form.
I've always fancied Stilian Petrov who plays at Celtic. Joe Cole would be great, assuming West Ham are relegated. Basically anyone who can play in the centre of the park and beat a man and then pass it.
I think we've seen from this months transfer window that the system is changing very quickly. Even if we do find a bit of cash underneath one of the directors bed they will be very careful about spending it.
Of course it also depends on how we finish the season. Champions league qulaification would almost guarentee top quality players flocking to Goodison, many of which on free transfers. Uefa qualification would allow us to buy the players we want and a mid table finish could make us look like Spurs by "nearly" signing players.
Beasely or Donovan would fit in well with the rest of the squad as we already have a North American flavour but we'd probably have to wait until the end of 2003 MLS season.
Frankly I doubt we'll see much activity though. We have a good young squad. A few younsters like Chadwick, McLeod might make more of an impact next year and one or two incoming players will keep up teh competition for places.

The reason I said Donovan and Beasley is because they were two players I've seen play a lot who I think would bring something a bit different to Everton, and of course there's that huge upside of a long future, both are only 20.
The suggestion of West Ham players is a very good one. I doubt Everton could get Defoe because I think a big club would gobble him up, but Joe Cole is a possibility. Also Lee Bowyer is a good one, if he has his head on straight. I think that by having a strategy of getting a top player or two from the relegated teams would be an effective in adding some good players to the team.

We don't need Defoe as we have plenty of strikers and I think Rooney is better anyway.
Cole would be magic, maybe Carrick might be a little cheaper but I do not want to see Bowyer at Everton. I have no respect for him and he would simply "rock the boat", Big Dunc would punch his lights out.

The only guys we could possibly get from West Ham would be Michael Carrick... and what about Trevor Sinclair?
They both would cost 5-6 million pounds each though, maybe Carrick a bit cheaper.

I thought about Sinclair. I wonder where he will move if they get relegated. For some reason, I think that West Ham will escape and won't fall into the relegation trap when May comes around. Though that may come back to burn me.
Leeds or West Ham, which one is in more of a crisis?

I do like the Joe Cole suggestiong, also don't rule out Reyna, he might well be possible if Sunderland get relegated.

Cole is a good choice though Reyna spends an awfull long time on the sidelines with injury problems. Something Everton have far too much of. I cant see Donovan leaving the US as no other club in Europe were able to lure him away, but then no English club has tried.

What about Kewell? I realise it's probably not going to happen, but Kewell would be ideal on the left with Cole in the centre.
Alan Smith?
Johan Earlemander(sp?) of Feyenoord is a brillaint young player and can play in an attacking position all across the midfield.
maybe there are some good young players from the continent we should be looking at as well.
