Good luck, guys. May the better team win the division (cause we know Toronto doesn't have a chance ).

Our filthy payroll for 2006 comes to a grand total of $196,464.656.

It has bought us this magnificent lineup for tonight:

3. Gary Sheffield, RF ($13 million)
4. Alex Rodriguez, 3B ($15 million)
5. Jason Giambi, 1B ($20,428,572)
6. Hideki Matsui, CF ($13 million)
7. Jorge Posada, C ($12 million)
8. Bernie Williams, DH ($1.5 million)
9. Robinson Cano, 2B ($381,100)
P. Randy Johnson ($16 million)

Other player's figures available upon request.

Default Yankees record: 1-0

Total laugher last night for the opener. Yanks drew blood from the start and ended up 15-2 winners over the A's. Zito was bounced in the second after only 4 outs, the shortest start of his career.

A-Rod: 3-for-5, a Grand Slam, 5 RBIs
Matsui: 4-for-4, 3-run homer, 4 RBIs

Those were just the top two. Damon batted 7 times, 3 hits with 2 doubles and 2 RBIs. The Big Unit hummed right along, going 7. No nonsense pitching, mostly groundouts and flyouts. Only got tagged by The Big Hurt for a solo shot.

Mussina vs. Rich Harden tonight. Chien-Ming Wang vs. Dan Haren on Wednesday.
