Any poker players in the house?
Just wondering. Maybe it would be a stretch to try and organise a BS United NSR forum online tournament (that was mouthful ), but you never know. Failing that we could perhaps swap hints and tips inside this thread.
I've been playing for about 3 1/2 years now, although I don't think I've played a single hand in the past 6 months or so but want to get back into it. I usually play hold 'em and have dabbled in ring games, tourneys and SNGs in all forms (limit, pot-limit and no-limit) and have had most success in ring games although tournaments were treating me nicely before I stoppped playing for a while. It's all been a mix of low-limit and micro-limit stuff so nothing major.
It would be good to hear from anyone else who plays and maybe we could offer each other advice if we've encountered tricky situations or we could post up a few hands for discussion etc.

I play 3 or 4 times a week with the guys from work. I love playing poker...I can't wait to make it to Vegas and try it out there.

Re: Any poker players in the house?
I play it at least once a week, usually two, sometimes three or more. I only play no-limit Texas hold-em, almost always tournaments (most of the time just games amongst friends), have been playing for about 2.5-3 years, although I have played it occasionally for the last 4-4.5 years. I don't enter a whole lot of hands, but when I am in I am throwing a LOT of chips into the pot. Sometimes it's when I've got the nuts, other times it's on a complete bluff, which has earned me the nickname 'Farquath' (the King from Shrek) because of the way he sits on his throne (I prefer sitting at the head of a table) and throws chips around mercilessly.
I went on an insane streak in the summer and won 18 tournaments straight, coming out with a sizeable profit in a few cash games and never losing a penny in the meantime. I came out at the end of the usmmer with €1,200 and I must have spent €2,500 during it; basically, poker was my summer job. although I did pay for that from September-November when I just could not win a hand, e.g. getting pocket kings and raising pre-flop to only get one or two callers, then catching a king on the flop, going all-in and getting a caller who would then catch a runner-runner for a straight or flush (why these people would call me, I will never know). I've been back in good form for the last 6 weeks or so, though. Playing tonight, and hoping/needing to win (need to get €200 before Wednesday when I will have my PowerBook back... and of course, iwll have to pay for it.

Re: Any poker players in the house?
If someone can figure how to have an online forum tournament, I'm definitely in...

Re: Any poker players in the house?
I've been known to try my hand at no-limit Hold Em. I'd definitely be interested in a forum tournament.

I couldn't take part for a while, since I have to get Virtual PC to play online poker since it doesn't work on a Mac (something to do with it being Java-scripted).

Re: Any poker players in the house?
I used to play online poker, but the randomness of the game put me off poker and I continued with chess. I used to use party poker, which is free, and I think you guys might be able to set something up on there.

I think FullTiltPoker.com runs on Macs - that's where I play and they sent out a little email about it just the other day
