Let's say the Germans DO figure out a way to efficiently check a high % of identities at the gate, and turn away those that don't match up.

Let's say 5 to 10% of all stadium tickets sold are thru scalpers - not unreasonable I think.

What do they do with 4 to 5 thousand unused tickets 1 hour before the game???? No way they are going to let them go unused, right? Their goal is to have full stadiums.

So, the conclusion is either a) They will NOT turn away mismatches (unless you're on the hooligan list or b) Their will be some sort of waiting line outside the stadium to buy tickets of the suckas who got denied.

I wish that you could buy scalped tickets so they could fill the stadium , but its also a safety precaution , and I dont know if they are willing to risk a full stadium for some type of danger, I'm not saying there will be any but thats what I have read.

On their website they make it clear they won't be checking IDs unless they have a reason. They also suggest that you won't be turned away if you don't match up, unless they have a reason. It says something like you "can" be turned away if your name doesn't match the name on the ticket. I think they are trying to 1) deter scalpers and thugs, and 2) have a reason to deny entry to drunken louts.
They repeatedly claim they want full stadiums and I'd be VERY surprised if they turned away anyone with a legitimate, i.e. not a forgery, ticket who doesn't appear to be a security risk.

I thought I read they would be doing random checks, but this is all I could find
