Flying into Frankfurt?
It seems FRA is the place of choice for arrivals. Just figured I'd start this and see who all is planning on arriving in FRA and when. Maybe we can all get together and catch a game at the river, drink some beers, and plan our tailgates...who knows, maybe even pack a train to G-town with U.S. supporters.
LAS-FRA
Arrive on the 9th of June
Train to Gelsenkirchen on the 12th.

Got rental car, driving to town of Worms where I'll be staying. Driving, or taking train, from Worms to K-Town on Sat.

Re: Flying into Frankfurt?
Almost every flight into Germany direct from USA goes into Frankfurt, although there are also flights into Dusseldorf and Munich. FRA is a big airport, with two main sections and several terminals. There's a big McDonalds (not my personal fave) outside of the gate area with a view to takeoffs and landings and a kid's play area. Also, the Marriott(?) near the Messe in the city is a bit of an American hangout. They even have a sportsbar type thing, although it was trendy with Germans when I lived there.

That just looks odd. Maybe it will be cool. Some good, touristy places for drink and food south of the river there.

Re: Flying into Frankfurt?
IAD - FRA ETA 10 June
FRA - IAD ETD 18 June
That Frankfurt river setup looks great - can't wait to check it out in person.
By the way, I just went through Frankfurt last month enroute to the U.S. Be ready for a very thorough and time consuming security process. I wen through three lines and was questioned extensively at the gate. BTW, I'm a 40-ish white male travelling on an official US Government passport. (e.g., everyone gets this treatment). Plan accordingly on departure day!

Re: Flying into Frankfurt?
Whoa....While Frankfurt is the biggest international hub in Germany most flights originating from the US do NOT go into Frankfurt. Delta's route market list is the following:
JFK-TXL (Berlin)
JFK-FRA
ATL-FRA 2x
ATL-DUS (Dusseldorf)
ATL-STR (Stuttgart)
ATL-MUC (Munich)
CVG-FRA
Continental flies to Hamburg, Berlin, Frankfurt and Munich

That secret is still safe - otherwise, I would have gotten the rubber glove treatment for sure.

Re: Flying into Frankfurt?
flying from Detroit to heathrow on 6-9-06 overnite, arrive in heathrow on the 10th, the jump via British Airways flight 904 to FRA... landing at 1:15, a mere hour and 30 min before the England match.... want to go into the city and catch the match in the pubs.. no way in hell we can get a ticket...
since we are coming from england, will we be held up in customs the same way Roadkit was?? wont we have already been thru customer as Heathrow?
how far is FRA from the main city where all the action is going on??? anyone here of open beergardens with big screens for game viewing?
