Arsenal America website
Hey everybody, I know it's still pre-season, but I just wanted to find out if you guys are checking the site ( www.arsenalamerica.com) out at all. I've been trying to post an item or so a day (put up a new UCI today).
Would love to add some mailbag stuff if anybody wants to crank out something.
Anyway, just let me know if you check the site regularly, or are waiting for the season to start or whatever.
thanks,

I've been checking pretty much everyday, just haven't done so today yet. (Pause.) OK, now I have. Who's the picture of on the UCI icon? Did you get that Brian Tindle story from the Arsenal mailing list?
As far as contributions, I don't think you have to worry much - this group seems pretty vocal. I've been resting the brain and fingers a bit this off-season, but I'm definitely planning on sending some stuff your way, and I'd guess others are planning on doing the same.
In the works:
-I'd still like to see a Meet the Members section on the site, so I'll have to have a go at that.
-'Repeating is hard to do: An Avs' fan's warning to the Arsenal faithful'
-'Sylvain Wiltord: The complete modern footballer'

I'm Looking!
I also check pretty much every day, although it's also partially because I just discovered the site a few weeks ago. I will also contribute when I can, as I think the rest of the members will. I also think we should set up a full membership directory, so that people can find each other in different cities to have viewing parties (like here in Pittsburgh). That way, I won't find myself on my own among Mark Madden and his fellow Liverpool fans when I go to watch the Charity Shield game at a local establishment here.

I mostly check here, since this is the Arsenal America message board by proxy.
I love the site, but I would like to see a few things...
1.) As others have said, an Arsenal America membership roster. Have the user give as much or as little info as they like. It would certainly make it easier to find other Gunners in our area to watch matches with. Ajax USA has a searchable database on their site (I am a member as Ajax the first European team I followed).
2.) A member "spotlight" feature. Once a month, one member can do an extensive biographical piece, maybe with how the became an Arsenal fan, etc. It would let us get to know everyone and make it more communal.
3.) Also, perhaps we could give each region or state a "captain", and those people could report once a month on watching parties, soccer friendly pubs, etc. This way, any members traveling could meet up with others or know where they could watch a match while in that area.
4.) I know this is a reach, but has anyone thought of the possibility of putting together some Arsenal America merchandise? Perhaps a T-shirt, membership card, "DB10" stickers, etc., for members to purchase? It would help us identify one another and give us something to wear to confuse the general public even more.
Well, that's all I've got right now. I hope it at least starts a discussion...

Arsenal America website
Rick -
Are you kidding? It's my homepage!
Coach-
I agree with all of those points, and I'm glad to say that some of those suggestions have already been acted upon. For example, there are currently three Regional Managers of ArseAm. I'm the one for the Philadelphia region, which includes southeastern PA, south Jersey, and all of Delaware.
We're planning a gathering at Nevada Smith's in NY on 8/11 - not sure where you are in the world, but you should definitely try to make it.

Well, that's good to hear about the regional managers. I'm a bit too far away from NY to make it on 8/11. Well, OK, more than a bit too far. I'm all the way down in Dallas, Texas, so I won't be able to make that one.
If there are any Gooners in the Dallas area, please let me know so that we can get something together in Texas for 8/11. If we can get some regional gatherings going, perhaps we can get some pictures taken at these events and post those on the site. Sort of an "ArseAm in the community" section for any regional stuff. And speaking of the regional gatherings, what about a national gathering here in the states towards the end of the season? Maybe Vegas? All of us getting together over a weekend, hit the town, go to a sports book and watch a match and perhaps a wager or 2?
Just another idea. Boy, do I need to start working more...*L*

I haven't looked in about a week, but was pleasantly surprised at the new content, especially the Crap Index (can you add Sp*rs in there for next week, who the hell loses to QPR?)...
I'd like to see a members' index as well, might give me a clue whether or not there are any Gooners within 300 miles of me.
I'm fully planning to do some match reports for you once the season starts too!

Well, that looks more like Spursenfreude to me. The UCI nod ought to go to the Sprums's web site for the apologistic "we didn't play anyone from the first team, practically" story on the game.
Perhaps this is a golden opportunity for one of Rick's terrific MY COMMENTS IN CAPS items...
