I got an apartment for 2 weeks south of Cologne in the Eifel area. For me its a good location to get about and see what I want to see, plus close to 2 of the matches.

The apartment owner also told me that the US base in the area does cheap car rentals so that may be a plus if I decide to rent a car.

If you havent inquired about apartments yet I recommend you do now. Also some may think about raising their rates. Im getting a good discount on mine since I am staying 2 weeks. It mounts to being 32euros a day for the place.

Dude, very smart move! I envy you.

The US base camp is in Hamburg, in the north of the country, and the 3 matches are far away, one in Gelsenkirchen (west), one in Kaiserlautern (southwest), and one in Nurnberg(southeast).

I have a hotel reserved in Cologne, but at what website did you inquire about apartment rentals? That price is about 250 euros a day cheaper than what I am paying!

I searched through several several several pages. But the best sites I found were through: http://ussupporters.com/pageApartments.asp

I found the apartment Im staying at through http://www.vacationvillas.net/

Most of the sites I looked at were hard to navigate, so you arent going to find your golden nuggets on the first page. I didnt care if I stayed in the city our out in a vacation resort area. Its also only myself and my fiancee going.

Make sure you send out emails, to the owners, most of the pages have links to inquire about their place. Ive had really good luck getting in touch with the owners.

While I typed this another apartment I was looking at just emailed me. They are open for the first round of the tourny here is a link if any of you want to check it out. Just use google to translate, or click on the english translation.
http://www.traum-ferienwohnungen.de/4887.htm
Portion of the email I got from the owner. "The apartment Herkules is 750 € for two all inclusive, except breakfast." Thats for 2 weeks.

The apartment route is alot cheaper than going the hotel route. So again if you havent I recommend doing so, cause some of those areas are high vacation spots for euros too.

Hope this information helps.

I've got tickets to the June 22 game in Nuremberg. I booked a room at a best western before the Draw just for the night.
Most of the hotels had already booked up.

I am thinking about staying in Prague and going in for the match, but that may change if I can get tickets to other matches....

My roommate and I are going on the dirt cheap student way. We are college students so we are staying in hostels and only going into Germany for the matches.

We play on staying with our other college roommates who live in Spain, my relatives in England, and hostels when we need to be close to Germany.

My base camp is in Mainz, which is right on the Rhine river, about 15 minutes from the airport in Frankfurt. Good location since I'm hoping to get tix to the Czech and Italy games, and fly in/out of Frankfurt.
