Nice little story out of Lyon...

"LYON, France (January 3, 2003 9:05 a.m. EST) - Villeurbanne AS Algerienne, a small amateur team from the suburbs of Lyon, will become the lowest ranked side ever to play in the first round of the French Cup when they meet fourth division Agde on Saturday."

They play in what is the equivalent of the French 9th division and the team is made up of Algerian immigrants. They have already played seven games just to make it to the first round

and PSG won against Besancon of Division 3, woooohooooo.

Super Lyon lost to a 4th division team.

9 first Division teams knocked out in this round.

A lot of games were played in the snow, it was cool.

I am so sick of Lyon first they bomb in Europe and now they lose to a weak team in the Cup. If I were the owners I'd fire the coach if they don't finish in the top 3 in the league. Theyre spending all this money with limited results they must be pissed. I wonder if Troussier or Metsu would be interested in the job

I think, teams of ligue 1 don't care about french cup because they must wear in adidas with other sponsors.

I noticed PSG wearing Adidas kits in their game against Besancon and wondered why. Thanks for the explanation.
