unfortunately it doesn't have the nationwide appeal that the MLS seems to want out of their shirt sponsors... Bud, Sierra Mist, etc.
Given the new direction as seen with Rival sponsors in Chicago - Honda on kit, Toyota on brick - there may be a chance that more than leaguewide sponsors can get their names on a shirt, up until now, only leaguewide sponsors get shirt space and they charge a premium for better known teams like DC and LA. If the league changes direction on this, I think you'd see a lot more shirts being sponsored. The Yueng would be fantastic, even people who aren't fanatics would buy the shirts for the Yuengling logo - especially if it was on front like that.
yuengling's making its way up and down the east coast ... http://www.yuengling.com/distrib.htm and also brew in both pottsville, pa and tampa, florida (in a former stroh's brewery). maybe not nationwide, but a decent portion of it.
Like the logo. That is a winner. How do you guys make those logos and concept jersey's? It's pretty cool. I have some good ideas.
imagine how many jerseys will sell in the area just because of the yuengling logo on the front...Ive met quite a few people that bought liverpool jerseys just because of the carlsberg logo...I know its kind of a cheesy way to get the common fan interested in the team, but hey, anyway we can get em.
i think any type of "local" sponsor would be huge in terms of marketing the team ... yuengling, tastykake, pat's/geno's*/jim's steaks, hell even soft pretzel companies, hehehe *would only cater to the english speaking crowd, of course then again, i think (although fun to speculate), this is definitely putting the cart in front of the horse.
if, hypothetically, the other kit (be it away) were to be mainly maroon, having that same color as an accent on this kit works, helping the 2 relate to each other. i do like the asymmetry you have going on as well. the 2 vertical bands i really like, similar to celtic's new international away kit (and many others), and the right sleeve being yellow is a nice touch. plus it sets it off as different from most of the other MLS jerseys out there, not many of which are asymmetrical ... except for dynamo (H) and galaxy (H & A).
I like the two colors on the uniform unless the 3rd color is just used as piping - or else the shirt looks too busy
The last kit Cynthia posted is my fave, by far. I've always been a fan of the "one sleeve different color" look, and the un-centered stripe reminds me of the MNT white kit, which I already own, so that's a plus too...someone good with photoshop skills should attatch losttransformer's crest (one of them) on the kit, with a nice Yuengling sponsorship..
I don't know if y'all have ruled out Atoms but I don't feel like going through every page to see. Here's what I did for the Philadelphia Atoms.
i think all these kits are nice, but lets not forget that adidas makes a couple new kits each year, then specializes them for each club (like the hoops for dallas or the stripes across the chest for dc or the diagonal stripe for la). so what's gonna make the philly kit stand out aside from the colors?
I don't think the looks should have some sort of stylistic gimmick. I think that's why the two color combinations that are popular here (skyblue and yellow, and maroon and skyblue) won out. No matter what gimmicks addidas, puma, Nike, Hanes, or whoever does MLS uniforms in the future, they can't take the color away as the Philadelphia (or South Jersey) team's identity.
i just think that somehow or in someway, it going to end up happening that some sort of design is going to be added aside from the distinctive colors because that it MLS & adidas's style since it's inception.... http://www.colours-of-football.com/colours03/usa/usa.html this is just a history of some of the more recent MLS jerseys to give some idea of previous concepts for other squads.
Sorry to do this so late, but I would love to get names and hometowns for the Logos/shield/kit/jersey designs. If you have a image up on www.phillysoccer.com, then please email/PM me what picture it is and what your first name and hometown are. You might be famous. Thanks
