It's too bad he's not old enough for Europe yet because I hear the benches are much nicer over there.

Its not much different from what he said before. The only new thing is the direct mention of not having a chance at the WC '06.

I'm more upset at Goff, even though he is just doing his job.

Oh, to be 16, a millionaire, and know it all - he wasn't going to make the squad for the WC, even if he started every game in MLS.

Hope he stays, his development this year has been marked, and I would expect him to be the offenxive catalyst for the team next year.

    And then he keeps talking.

Actually, I'd say in getting this story he's doing his job damn well.

Sachin is right. This could be brutal.

I generally like Goff and think his coverage of the United is excellent, but I feel like he was asking pretty leading questions of Freddy in this case...

times like these Freddy answers the questions of people who think he's much older than he really is.

Why would you be upset with Goff?

You think he'd just sit on this and not report it the first chance he gets?

What's new is he's gone to the press again. This is very disruptive, and it comes at a bad time. If he hopes to force Nowak into playing him, I think he's miscalculated.

But its not a 'story'. It just asking Adu "how do you feel about being benched?" "Did you want to play in the World Cup?" "Do you eventually want to play somewhere else besides DC United?"

I'm only upset at Goff because one could read the same articles in the UK, with their 'wonderful' journalism standards, particularly when it comes to player movement.

How do you know what questions Goff was asking. Perhaps Freddy just started venting with Goff struggling to keep up.

FWIW, Freddy does have a point about the last few games. Moreno, Quaranta, Gomez and Adu should be a lot more potent than Moreno, Quaranta, Gomez and Walker.

Goff did his job to a T here.

Players get asked these questions all the time in locker rooms in all sports. Few of them, faced with the beginning of the playoffs on a championship team, would ever answer them in this manner. True, few of them are Freddy's age, but if you're going to be a professional, then you get all the responsibilities that come with that, along with the accolades and money.

Biggest frustration seems to be that he ahd a target to be on the 2006 WC roster and won't make it.

I think that drives the frustration more than anything, without it he'd be happy with his starts and appearances I think. (Not perfectly happy but not likely to need to voice such frustration).

Re: Goff article: Adu Considers Leaving United

Asked if he is looking to play elsewhere in MLS, he said...

Obviously this is the way to write a good story, but it would have been more relevant had he asked Nowak "How do you not start the Player of the Week?"

Screw Freddy. The simple truth is that he is not good enough to start.
If he wants to leave I say let him leave - we would have been better off without him anyways. I have a serious problem with his comments and the timing of his comments. If I was the coach I would bench Freddy for at least the Chicago game if not beyond. Compare what Boswell said a couple weeks ago to what Freddy said:

"Through all of this, I have just tried to keep the big picture in mind -- that we're trying to win a championship and I'm part of that puzzle," Boswell said. "The main thing for me is to develop as a player, and hopefully I can do it on the field. If Coach feels differently, I have to respect that and work hard and try to get back out there."

So how did you get to be lucky enough to stand next to Steve and hear the questions he asked?

That's ********ing pathetic that the reporter is to blame.

    See ya, Freddy.

He shouldn't blame Nowak but all those people who told him he is as good as Pele. Freddy is good but he's no Pele.

I wonder what we'll get for him in a trade? A major allocation? Eddie Johnson?

If the "Bobby Convey Likes Mac and Cheese" thread did 129 posts, the sky is truly the limit on this one.

Let me be the first (or one of the first if somebody beats me to it while I'm typing) but this could work out just fine for DCU. Every other MLS team would give up mature talent for him, plus we'd clear his cap money. Obviously it would hurt attendance, but to clear a potential cancer and add a few more talented players could really help the product on the field.

Good night, good bye and good riddance, Freddy.

Everybody wants to play right? In all honesty if another team will give him minutes why shouldn't he at least look at that? I think he should be playing and if it isn't here then somewhere in MLS...MLS kept him here probably by filling his head that he would be playing. And as far as his European departure his stock will be worth more if he is playing and can show his talent.

If Nowalk doesn't want to play him because he remembers his days as a 16 year old then fine, that is the coaches decision but if Freddy asks MLS to move him in the off-season nobody should complain.

heck I have guys on my over 35 indoor team that don't think they get enough playing time and most of them would swap teams if they new they could play more!

dude, reread the article where it says "Asked if he is looking to play elsewhere in MLS, he said...". And my post that you are quoting is equally critical of Freddy, I'm saying he's showing his immaturity. chill out!
