fifa 2006
This is a thread for EAs new game fifa 2006, are you playing it? do you want to know more about it?
where are you in career mode?
Of course i had to go through about three seasons to get enough points to be arsenal!
its hardest in the first season because you dont have much money and you lose quite a bit on away games, so you can either upgrade your stadium and hope that you can last until january without losing too much money, which i did, and i sold bobby :O so now im afloat, sperz beat me in the first derby match, but ive beaten chelsea everytime, im waiting until the 2nd season to get new young players, how bout you all?

I'm playing as Derby County. In 4th place, just lost to Sunderland in the League Cup on Penalties.

Loving FIFA 06 so far. Much more realistic gameplay - finally, the ball doesn't 'stick' to the players' feet. The matches flow much more realistically and even the keepers' reactions to shots have been improved.
I've been having too much fun playing exhibitions and getting used to the game to get into career mode yet.

Re: fifa 2006
Dudes, I've been waiting for this thread.... didn't think to look in the OT...
Anyways... I tried to be clever and unlock all clubs and manage Arsenal from the start, but I got SMOOOOKED! By the wage bill, of course! I couldn't afford the team since I didn't have any good sponsors.
So I started over... I think I'm doing this pretty well. I started out as RED BULL SALZBERG... 'cause of the Red Bull, of course. So I did OK in the first year, brought in some new players, then I ran riot in the second year! I ran away with the Double. So after year two I switched to Ajax as a Level 3 manager... It was a tight squeeze to afford their wage bill, but I'm doing OK. I'm finding it's important to carry only the minimum of 18 outfield players. First season at Ajax, I finished third in the League and won the Dutch Cup. I lost in the quarters of the Champions League against Milan.
This is the best part........ Second season at Ajax begins and I'm in a Champions League qualifier against CHELSKI!!! I beat them 0-1 in the first leg at the Bridge... then they scored 0-1 against me at Amsterdam... so it went to extra time but I punched one in to knock the Russians out of the Champions League! Sweetness! Of course this is like four years from now so they don't have as many players (Roman must have pulled out).
So what level do we have to be before we can afford Arsenal's wage bill? I'm a level five but I doubt I could do it just yet.

Re: fifa 2006
I found an answer to my own question... the sponsors only "spawn" through level 5, so by then you might as well side with a five star team.

Got Rushden & Diamonds that League 2 Championship and won the League Cup. So far so good. Im looking to go to Italy or Germany in the next off season, maybe bring TSV 1860 back into Bundesliga 1.
