Well thats great I guess a league title would be great for you guys but you should have higher ambitions like success in Europe maybe.

Being a supporter of Marseille myself I would like to cool down your enthusiasm. Yes we are 1st in the league at half championship but this is only an indication of how bad the French championship has become. This OM team is, at best, average and let's be honest not one of the current team's players would have qualified for our 89-93 or even 99/00 teams.
Our league is so weak (see results in the CL and UEFA cup) it is scary.
Even if we win the league (which I hope) we will be as ridiculous as OL/Lens/AJA in the CL next year.
There won't be any Waddle, Mozer, Papin, Pires anymore. It is simply not affordable anymore for any French club, OM included.
Perrin is doing a fantastic job with the players he has at his disposal but for me the dream is over.

Allez l'OM.

I agree 100 % with everything you said. When they signed that 18 yr old Russian it was big news if thats the best they can do in terms of signing high profile players then thats not gonna be enough compared to other Western European powerhouses. Everyone in France now Marseille and PSG included go after the Africans and Eastern Europeans heavily because their cheaper than good Western European players. Damn that sucks that OM no longer can be a great team in Europe no one left to carry the flag of the league and country.

The great OM will reportedly have their debts settled in 2004, thats not very far away, maybe then i can go back to hating them and not pitying them like today.

I would love to see a Marseille-FC Barcelona matchup in next years CL I would get so stoked for that. I actually thought O.Marseille could be as big a club as Barcelona is in a way they kinda were in the 80's, 90's I guess. Now they never could come close to matching them.
