Having read quite a few tit-bits from various sources recently I get the impression the project will remain exactly where it is forever. A figmant of Bill Kenrights imagination. Fair play to the bloke, he loves Everton and wants them to conquer the continent and play in a palace but is the timing right?
Even if some bank was foolish enough to lend us the money we wouldn't have ANY cash (instead of the loose change we've spent in recent years) so no Yobo and long term contracts for the younger players. Moyes would be out the door in no time and the board would have to sell a player or two aswell. To make matters worse the council and the NIMBY crowd are already being vocal and unhelpful.
Serveral clubs in the division have nice new shiny grounds at the moment (Southampton and Man City most notably) but are they playing better football? Has their annual turnover been dramatically increased? The answers in most cases are No, or it's too early to tell.
