I am really looking forward to the Merseyside debies this season. Everton are playing really well. Moyes has the Toffees climbing steadily up the table. Should make for some real firecrackers!

As if he wasn't the toast of the Blue side of town already, that would immortalize him. He is gifted to be sure. I just hope (truly) that he keeps his head and doesn't do anything foolish. Look no further for a great role model for the young star than Michael Owen.

Everyone is comparing Rooney to Owen, and I cant see the simularities. Yes they are both young talents, both come from the same city, both will play for England but to me that is where the comparison ends. I would put Rooney as a young Shearer.Rooney's size and stature if healthey will see him have a long career as Shearer, Owen on the other hand is small in stature and I hope Im wrong but may have a shortened career because of it. What will happen to Owen when his speed leaves him as he gets older? he doesnt have the stature to fight off tackles from defenders. I hope he can bulk up for his sake.

Owen is from Cheshire and and comes from a middle class stable family. Rooney is from Merseyside, Croxteth to be precise and comes from a working class family who live in a house not owned by them.

The only similarities between Owen and Rooney is that both are young and about the same height and have excellent talent.
