Default Germany's Away Kit...

Now that we are subjected to the red away kit, can anyone provide a history of the other uniform colors that the NationalElf has used throughout their history and perhaps the significance of the colors?

I.e. Green was mentioned in another forum and the reasoning was the DFB colors are green and white. I know that they have worn red (current), black and dark grey before the green, but I am looking for history and any significance to the colors...

I know that Germany's always had grey white and black training suits and uniforms so maybe they decided to put them in the NT.

actually i read this on the ger-arg [R] thread and forgot to respond to it...

the actual reason for the green and white away thread is, as somebody pointed out earlier, out of respect for ireland...

this is because ireland was the first country/team to agree to play a friendly against germany after WWII...

I am the one that brought this up in the other forum. I heard this from a friend of my from Dublin and was wondering if it was true. I checked the DFB website and I don't think they list friendly matches back from those dates. This could be a soccer urban legend which is why I started this thread. Hopefully someone can confirm the story being that they are now two of us that have heard this same story of Ireland being the first team to accept a match with post-war Germany...

I've heard that story from Germans I consider very reliable football sources.

Hello !
Here are all DFB matches listed (since 1908):
http://www.dfb.de/dfb-team/nationalt...tik/index.html

The first match after WW2 was Germany-Switzerland (1:0) in 1950.
So I don't think that this story is true.

According to Abseits-Soccer, Germany didn't play Ireland in their first friendly from WWII...they played Switzerland twice, then Turkey, then Austria and then Ireland. Maybe it's the agreement that matters only, a NT can agree to a friendly long before they actually play the game.
