Newcastle v Charlton [R]
2-1 to our boys.
bartlett scores for charlton in the 30min, only for.....wait for it......ANDY GRIFFIN to equalize 7 minutes later. Robert gets off his rear to score in the 59th, and its game, set, match to the toon.

Yeah, well, GRIFFIN! Holy crap. Damn near dropped my coffee when they announced that while I was watching Liverpool-Blackburn this morning.
And thanks to bungling at the top of the table, we sit only 3 points out of 3rd place with a game in hand.
Not to parade an overused phrase, but... the season starts here.

The lads will be fine on Tuesday.
Saturday was a very good team performance, marred slightly by giving away a soft goal - both O'Brien and Bramble at fault.
Generally, the standard of play was good. While I usually shudder watching Shola Ameobi play for us, I thought Saturday was the best performance I have seen from him.
We scored two excellent goals and had many other close misses.
Now that Robert has got his first goal, and generally played well throughout, I think we will see him back to last season's form. If Lua Lua isn't fit, I would like to see him support Shearer up front on Tuesday, with Viana coming in on the left side of midfield.
