Just saw the highlight of Griffin's goal on uefa.com and what a bizarre goal it was, but it gave the lads the points, so I'll take it. Plus I can stick it to my Juve buddy.

Newcastle v. Juve, Round 2 [R]
YES YES YES !
This is the best ive seen them scrap for a long long time...
Short on technichal wizardry , but throught sheer guts & determination , we got there.....Even Robert was getting stuck in & tackling .... Bit of an uneasy start for both harper & Bramble , but they settled down & managed to keep Juve at bay for most of the match...
Now all we hav to do is beat both Kiev & feyenoord to have a good chance of qualifying for the next round.....
HOWAY THE LADS!

I am much more optimistic, CT. If we beat Kiev and Feyenoord do not win in Turin then we will be in with a good shout for the second round.
I reckon that if Feyenoord draw with Juve we will have to win in Rotterdam, but if Juve beat Feyenoord a draw will be enough, provided that we beat Kiev by more than two goals and Juve do no worse than draw with Kiev. (Simple, isn't it?)
Last night really was a good performance - everyone played well (I suppose you could be hyper-critical of Robert).
After a few early misunderstandings Harper sorted himself out and Bramble really did look a good defender.
There was of course a lot of luck about the goal and we survived the hit bar. It was nice to see us get the luck after having none against Feyenoord or in Turin.

Wide,
The reason for the UEFA Cup comment: It means the lads would still get lots of Euros to pass on to those on the club who are truly are worthy - Mssrs. Hall and Shepherd.
