yea I heard about this yesterday, forgot to post it, i'm glad its going to be played in S.A., I hated that fact that it was played in the US, took away some of its essence. This is like the intercontinetal cup of S.A. and it has to be played in S.A., good move by CONMEBOL. I also heard that each team is going to get about 200,000 dollars for playing it, plus local ticket sales, don't know what the prize money will be for the champion.

I still don't rate this much.. what is the point of playing a year after the fact? THESE 2 TEAMS ARE A SHADE OF WHAT THEY WERE IN THEIR TIME.

I Agree 100% With Electric, The Recopa Should Be Played Around December, I Mean, As Soon As Finishes The Copa Sudamericana, Although At This Time I Suppose That Is Stronger The Recent Champion Of The Nissan Sudamericana

And What Happens If The Same Team Wins Libertadores And The Nissan Sudamericana? What Team Would Be Its Opponent In The Recopa?

In case that the winner of la Copa Libertadores also wins La Copa Sud Americana CONMEBOL awards the Recopa Automaticly to the winning team..
plus the prize money..

as far as the dates played During july and Aug are the best times because conmebol feels that Dec - June belong to la copa libertadores Sept - Dec to la copa sudamericana there for July Aug is the perfect time for la recopa..

La Recopa is not new and has been disputed for many years under different systems but now it has the perfect system thanks to the success of la copa sudamericana and the teams and federations that have accepted it and now desire it..

they had to settle with La Sudamericana, but I'm prett sure they will take La Recopa.....I don't think Caldas will be able to fight for that cup.

The right way to play both tournaments is play at the same time like as Europe where Champions League and UEFA Cup.

Here is perfectly possible starts in February playing the cups every two weeks. One week play Libertadores and the next week play Sudamericana, both tournaments would finish in November and play the Recopa and World Cup in December.

----------

February
- First Round of Libertadores : 8 games by week. Matchdays 1 & 2.

March
- First Round of Libertadores : 8 games by week. Matchdays 3 & 4.

April
- First Round of Libertadores : 8 games by week. Matchdays 5 & 6.

May
- First Round of Sudamericana : 8 games by week.

August
- Week 1 & 3 : Eightfinals of Libertadores.
- Week 2 & 4 : Eightfinals of Sudamericana.

September
- Week 1 & 3 : Quarterfinals of Libertadores.
- Week 2 & 4 : Quarterfinals of Sudamericana.

October
- Week 1 & 3 : Semifinals of Libertadores.
- Week 2 & 4 : Semifinals of Sudamericana.

November
- Week 1 & 3 : Finals of Libertadores.
- Week 2 & 4 : Finals of Sudamericana.

December
- Week 1 : World Cup of Clubs.
- Week 3 : Recopa (Libertadores champion vs Sudamericana champion).

----------

* End of Mexican teams in Libertadores.
* End of Preliminary Round of Libertadores.
* Teams can´t play both tournaments at the same year.

* Libertadores Cup : 32 teams, 3 teams by country (1º, 2º & 3º of National Leagues) + Libertadores champion + Sudamericana champion.

* Sudamericana Cup : 32 teams, 3 teams by country (4º, 5º & 6º of National Leagues) + 7º Argentinian League + 7º Brazilian League.

you do realize that if both tournaments are played "European" style, people will opt for going to Libertadores games instead of Sudamericana games, meaning that only the ones that have the income to go to both tournament games will do so, I would expect a huge drop in Sudamericana attendence, and in the long run CONMEBOL would lose even more money. I mean even the way it is right now, playing Sudamericana after Libertadores, you don't see the same attendance in Sudamaricana as in Libertadores, imagine if both were played side by side. Anyway, I think that having both tournaments in different times of the year makes it more interesting, as you are able to enjoy both in their own right.

*End of Mexican teams in Libertadores, you get rep for that.
