I wonder what kind of turnout they get for this game.... first game for Orlando City since winning USL right?
They played the Sounders last Tuesday. http://www.orlandocitysoccer.com/news/index.html?article_id=697 And LOTS of info out of Seattle's camp on this game: http://www.soundersfc.com/media-lib...12/02-February/120213-Orlando-City-Recap.aspx http://www.soundersfc.com/News/Articles/2012/02-February/vs-Orlando-City.aspx http://live.soundersfc.com/Event/Training_Game_Sounders_FC_vs_Orlando_City_SC?Page=0
Of course we lost last year. Check out the photo from the game in the link. Apparently, once Valdes got the red, we put in a bunch of nine year olds.
Orlando City has such a badass logo. I see them as a legitimate future MLS franchise. They just seem to have their shite together down there. *Really looking forward to reading the 1 tweet about this game!*
Orlando lost their MVP Alvarez to RSL but they have John Rooney now, formerly of Red Bull (spit) and might get their goal scorer, Lewis Neal, back in time for Saturday. Should be fun.
Orlando is no joke. 2011 was the first year they existed, and they won the league championship as well as having the best record. I realize that a lot of those guys were brought over from the Aztex, but that's still ridiculous. Adrian Heath is badass.
During the 2010 season, the Union signs a two-time USL Defender of the Year (2008, 2009) and USL League MVP. See Arrieta, Cristian. During the 2011 season, the Union signs the 2010 PDL Defender of the Year. See Tait, Joe. My prediction, during the 2012 season the Union signs the 2011 USL PRO Defender of the Year. See Valentino, Rob. ... you know, to keep the pattern going.
Well, yeah, but he doesn't fit the "pattern" ... the top defender in his respective league signed after the season had begun.
http://www.orlandocitysoccer.com/news/index.html?article_id=706 Orlando City's PR department is not afraid to publish its projected starting line-up: Match Facts: Date: Feb. 18, 2012 Time: 7:30 P.M. Location: Florida Citrus Bowl Expected Orlando City Line-Up (unofficial): GK: Miguel Gallardo DEF: Jerome Mechack, Rob Valentino, Logan Emory (trialist), Luke Boden MID: Kevin Molino, James O’Connor, Anthony Pulis, John Rooney, Charlie Campbell FWD: Dennis Chin Subs will not be listed as the entire roster is available under friendly match rules.
I believe that's Charlie Campbell from Louisville's College Cup Final squad in 2010. Rob Valentino was a former MLS GA signing oddly enough. John Rooney? Who's that bloke?
Tsk, small time move. Don't they know absolute secrecy is essential to keep an advantage over your rivals? They'll never be MLS caliber, clearly
Here is are a couple of local tv promos for the game. http://www.myfoxorlando.com//dpp/good_day/021312-orlando-city-soccer They're a little silly but fun.
Starting XI: MacMath, Williams, Valdes, Califf, Lopez, Adu, Gomez, Carroll, McInerney, Martinez, Mwanga. 4-3-3 perhaps? Looks like a winning line-up.
