Apparently its the wrong Edwin Rivas...there was some confusion because there are two Edwin Rivas attending Cal State Northridge, but the Edwin Rivas that is listed as a red-shirt traing with the Guatemalan U-20 team back in June. The Salvadoran Edwin Rivas that played with the LA based Salvadoran squad against Salvadoran players last year attended Moorpark College, but also has CSUN listed as a college (as far as i know isn't on the CSUN Men's Soccer Team for next year). So i think that was my mistake for not being 100% before posting the information. Sorry. On that note, David Turcios Height: 5-6 Age: 18 Position: Midfield David Turcios will be joining Cal State Northridge's Soccer Program. According to ESPN, David is considered one of the top players in California (in high school soccer) Both quotes from CSUN Athletics website article

(0)= Ranking of school in each Conference Fr = Freshman So = Sophomore Jr = Junior Sr = Senior I feel as though the focus should be on those in higher division school, because it is a higher level of soccer, but shouldn't forget about those in lower college systems.
There will be a draft next month for the Montreal Impact. I'm wondering if we may see young salvi players up for selection.
Salvadoran-American Seniors: Division I: Richard Menjivar - Part of USMNT U-18 pool back in 2008 Battuto Punyed - Part of USMNT U-20 pool in high school; Played 4 years with St. John's University (ranked #13) Richard Abrego - Portland Timbers U-23 Squad Division II: Edgar Alvarez - Arturo Alvarez's younger brother Pana Vasquez - Houston Dynamo Academy Protected Player Other Divisions: Freddy Garcia Henry Villafranco None have been invited to the MLS Combine, but should keep our eyes on a few of them.
Guys please reminded Luis Silva (UCSB - Gaucho) is his parents from El Salvador or not. I remember a few years back we made such a big deal of his play at UCSB and some guy posted that he was from El Salvador. But I don't remember if that was a false rumor. In any event Luis Silva is speculated to be drafted tomorrow.
Pablo 'Battuto' Punyed was selected by Sporting Kansas City, so he'll be fighting for a spot on the roster No clue what is happening with Pana Vasquez considering he is one of Dynamo's Home-Grown Players, but haven't heard anything about him joining the team since he has graduated college
Pablo Punyed? Well his younger brother Renato Punyed was a talent I discovered back in July (found here: https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1626014&highlight=renato+punyed&page=6) Well when researching Renato, Pablo Punyed came up as his older brother, so further investigation led to finding out their father is Juan Ignacio Punyed, born in San Salvador but currently living in Miami. To be honest I'm not sure how strongly they feel towards playing for El Salvador if given the chance considering the Punyed Brothers were born and raised here in the US. Pablo has played for the us USMNT U-20 team in Copa Chivas in 2008, so you never know if it could be a Purdy/Alvarez type of case.
You're showing me a link to videos of them. There isn't an article of them actually saying they're of Salvadoran descent?
That link also has a link to Renato's USSDA profile (http://ussda.demosphere.com/teams/37416866/37417317-37416959/37185268.html) in which is states his nationality as 'El Salvador' Their family website: http://www.punyed.com/PUNYEDDUBON.html His father's facebook: http://www.facebook.com/punyed?ref=ts#!/punyed Havent been able to find an article on them though...
Well that proves they are though. His father's Facebook says it. Well, cool! Hopefully the guy can get scouted by Israel.
