You are in charge: what do you do?
So YOU are in charge of CANAL + Groupe:
And you determine the hiring of PSG Presidents, and, thus, the direction of the club. What do you do? What's your approach to:
(1) Reducing yearly losses
(2) Promoting the brand worldwide
(3) Developing local talent
(4) Attracting sound veteran players and coaches (given the French tax situation)
(5) Establishing long-term dominace of Ligue 1
(6) Establishing a bonified European pedigree
What do you do? Part of the reason that, IMO, PSG was asked to be a member of the G-14 group of European clubs is that, by default really, they are the only club in arguably THE major city in Europe, and they have established THE major rivalry in France (PSG-OM), one that has largely been contrvied or created in the last 20 years in terms of it being something of a national event. It's certainly not a full-fledged European success rate (Cup Winners' Cup notwithstanding) that has led to PSG, being so young and relatively bereft of success, having such influence.
It also has to do with potential; I look at PSG, for the reasons listed above and more, and find that they are the single biggest site of untapped potential in the sports club world. Easily. Being the only major club in Paris should mean that, as Paris is the most popular city on earth to visit, that PSG is branding itself in association with that sentiment, but they do not. Real Madrid and Barca produce their website in multiple languages (hell, even Arsenal understands how to promote its value and brand outside Europe), but PSG struggles to produce any of its content in English, let alone assess its brand value in Asia.
So, there's much work to be done...but what would YOU do? I'd like to use this thread as a laboratory to discuss the various possibilities in terms of building the club in all its endeavours.

You are so right. It boggles my mind why PSG hasn't tried to take the world by storm. PSG official website in English, Spainish, and Chinese or Japanese. PSG, the FC of Paris, the most visited city in the world, should pump the name, logo, and their football club like a madman.
Maybe we should send emails to the PSG website and get them to offer an English version at least. I know I would start visiting it, instead of getting my occasional nugget of news 2nd hand from Sky Sports.

Re: You are in charge: what do you do?
PSG had better wake up because their is a certain Paris team in the 3rd division with a rich history who was just bought by a rich Swiss buisnessman. Great chance they will be in Ligue 2 next year and it could be a very quick rise to Ligue 1 because the owner will no doubt want to spend money to get them there. With PSG's struggles the time is right for a 2nd Paris team to rise up and challenge them for capital supremacy and it will happen in 5 years time you can count on it.

That is very true. Thats why it so messed up that a team like Arsenal(who plays in city with 11 other pro teams) can out spend PSG. That is not right and doesnt make any sense. Arsenal's and PSG's attendences are very similar. No way Arsenal should have a higher budget than PSG but they do. PSG should be one of the richest teams in the world. They arent because of higher taxes and the DNCG and the fact that they have been marketed and run poorly which has cost them lots of potential new fans. In a perfect world Thierry Henry would be playing for PSG and not Arsenal. Sorry, Catfish but its true.

How about begging Chirac to ease things up a bit for French teams so they dont have to pay high employment taxes on players. Bribe him if you have to lol

You are so right. TH14 would definately be sporting the blue of PSG instead of AFC and Ronaldinho might have stayed at a BIG club even with problems. The PSG boardroom needs to wake up!

Re: You are in charge: what do you do?
Well I dont know about them keeping Ronaldinho. Barcelona is a mythical club and its very hard to turn them down if they are interested in you. In my opinion they are one of the 3 richest clubs in the world. Ronaldinho's not French I was thinking that the French players would be the ones who really wanted to stay/come to PSG. They would probably be more loyal than some Brazilian would.
