hello,

i will be in vancouver october 7-13 for a conference. i'm bringing my wife and we are both looking forward to it -- it'll be her first time there, my second.

on the downside, it's right in the middle of the MLS playoffs, and i'd like to try to see a few games if possible.

let me say that of the few times i have been in canada i was not watching a lot of TV, so i don't know which american cable channels you do or don't have. i'm also not sure how many canadians follow MLS but hey titus and derosario have to have a few fans.

that said, can anyone recommend a soccer-friendly pub that may have the shootout, or satellite, or any way for me to see the MLS playoffs if at all possible.

i have walked through hell and back to see games in columbus, but under the circumstances i'm not up for making a big effort -- an effort, yes, but nothing extravagant.

also -- can any locals suggest good seafood restaurants? asian?

thanks in advance for any help.

I should have let Krammer take this one, but I'll add two quick bits. There are some good soccer pubs, but they're definitely more Euro-friendly than MLS friendly. I doubt anyone has the shootout package, but ESPN/2 and the Fox Sports regionals shouldn't be too hard to track down at a sports bar. All we have on basic cable is ABC, so you're SOL there.

I'm a KC fan and I live in a far less cosmopolitan place than Vancouver and I usually manage to see the big games.

Good luck and go to Hon's Wun-Tun House. There's a really good sushi place in Richmond, but that's a long trip and there's plenty of good Asian food downtown. Enjoy.

cheers,

Hmm, better not let me take this one. Last things first, I'm too poor to eat out, so I don't really know much about good restaurants.

As for MLS games on sattelite, I'm clueless there as well.
