Re: SA vs ENG [r] ODI's
England lose again despite a brilliant 69-ball hundred from Kevin Pietersen in the fifth of the series, 3-1 down with two to play.
I don't get what the selectors are doing. Andrew Strauss just came off an excellent series against the South Africans, averaging 72.88 at the top of the order and he's been dropped down to four in favour of Geraint Jones who averaged 26.87 in the tests. And Graham Thorpe, a renowned manipulator of the ball in one-day games doesn't feature at all! WTF has Solanki done to be playing ahead of him? I'm a great believer in playing your best players in both forms of the game, you can probably make a case for one or two changes for the one-day squad, but that's about it.

Re: SA vs ENG [r] ODI's
Thorpe doesn't play in the one day games by choice - he's retired from that at international level.
I presume Jones opens because he tends to score quite quickly, moreso than Strauss.
However, Pietersen aside, England haven't really been that great over the one day games.
Can't say I'm too bothered myself, I'd much rather see a test series winning side, and hopefully some good form can be shown against Australia over the summer. Much as I want to see a home win (I can't really recall the previous one), a competitive series would be welcome.

Trescothick dropped the series in game 3 .
he missed a dolly catch to dismiss Smith when he was on 53 .Smith then went on to hit a game winning ton .This was the pivotal moment when the series swung to south africas favour .
Geraint jones was abysmal as batsman and wicketkeeper .His stumpwork/wicketkeeping was attrocious and cost us wickets and runs.
The team selections for us during the series were highly dubious .However I cant wait to see pietersen play with Flintoff .
