First off, props for doing the work to come up with some of the visuals on this. Great job. Secondly, regardless of whether or not the Crew go with the LH on the front in the absence of a new sponsor, I think it would be a great tribute if we and FC Dallas wore special jerseys to that effect during their yearly meetings on the field. (Having BOTH teams in a single match having the exact same logo might look kind of weird, so you could have each team wearing their normal shirt on the road and each team wearing the LH for their home match.)
I think that this looks like a training jersey rather than a game day jersey. It just has too much negative space.
When MLS had logos on the backs of the jerseys, the "same logo" thing happened when we would play New England. For a while, both teams advertised Pepsi.
