Ummm, HELL NO. Retaliation must be swift and without mercy. This is unacceptable. Higher-res, posted on the Timbers FB page: http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos...9223232235_182844932235_5057005_6460824_n.jpg
what the.... Hmmm isnt there a bridge in Portland that will allow you to pick the colors its lite up as? For a small fee of course- wouldnt it be awesome to have rave green and blue blazing in the heart of Portland on their opening day?
Morrison Bridge. Here's the application. It's $100 or $1200 for a month: http://www.lightthebridges.org/pdfs/partnerapp.pdf I feel a hat being passed around the Brougham End tonight...
Heh. It's also about a mile from PGE Park http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&sou...22.675786&sspn=0.022372,0.038581&ie=UTF8&z=15
I'd pay $5, too. I mean, as a neutral I think it quite funny that they paid for a billboard there in Seattle, but I also think it would be a terrific quid pro quo to lite up the bridge in Sounders colors.
They tapped out their own market and have come north looking to fill their stands with our STH waiting list?
Agreed. It really is kinda sad how much Portlandians judge their success by how much they rile up Seattle. Vancouver would never even think of doing something like this because Vancouver is an international city whose people have a much higher opinion of themselves and their standing in the world. They don't need to impress or bother Seattle because they don't give a shit about what Seattle thinks about them. As long as I have been alive Portland has been all about how it measures up to Seattle.
Boys boys, the two FO's are working together on this. Sounders are advertising on Portland sports radio now (as of today I believe, or yesterday, no earlier) There are things afoot.
If they can parlay this into selling more STs than they have been, good for them. I think someone convinced them northbound 4th Ave S. was a major route to the park and not an industrial area. Someone at Clear Channel is probably getting the true last laugh for that one.
