Exactly why can't FSC start their Sunday morning broadcast earlier to avoid the ridiculous 3 minute delay? (I understand that it's not always possible when the Serie A match runs a bit long)
One minor omission: Blackpool vs Fulham will be on FSC via 1-day delay on Sunday August 29 at 9am ET.
FSC has implemented the 3-minute delay for "live" matches from Europe for many years so that every program can start at :00 or :30 past the hour. Matches that kick off at :45 past the hour (Serie A and UEFA Champions League), as well as matches preceded by pre-game shows (i.e. EPL matches on Saturdays), are no longer subject to the 3-minute delay. (FSC joined the Aston Villa-West Ham match on Saturday "in progress" 30 seconds into the match "Univision style". I hope that won't be a weekly occurrence.) That means the live Serie A match on Sundays at 9am ET and the live EPL match on Sundays at 11am ET are usually the only ones each week that are subject to the 3-minute delay so that the infomercial on Sunday at 8:30am ET doesn't have to be chopped off.
What I don't understand though is how a network, whose sole purpose is to broadcast soccer matches, can't find a way to avoid silly delays. Seriously - begin the broadcast 5 minutes early, FSC. It's just aggrevating and diminishes my viewing experience knowing that I'm not watching something live - that whatever I'm reacting to actually took place minutes before. If I'm the only one - I'll shut up! By the by - there's no excuse to miss the 10 AM kickoff. Just ridiculous.
I don't mind the delay, as I DVR most matches anyway. You can't just jump right into a match at the top of the hour on U.S. TV, especially since most casual viewers are used to a few minutes into to allow for lineups and a short intro.
It's a niche station - there are no casual viewers. Just go directly to the match (or start the broadcast 3 minutes earlier) so die-hards (like myself) can un-bunch their panties.
I hate when matches start on delay because I'm usually following BBC Live text and if the game on FSC is on delay, I see the goals on live text before they happen, so it basically forces me to not follow whats going on in the other games, especially if its Tottenham on delay.
West Ham vs Bolton will be LIVE on FSE Saturday 10:00 AM ET Everton v Wolverhampton still LIVE on FSC..same time http://msn.foxsports.com/fse/tvschedule
Man City vs. Liverpool won't be shown in HD apparently, judging by the TV listings. WTF? Are the listings just wrong?
As discussed in the other thread and as I have evidence of on my DVR, last Monday's Man U vs Newcastle game on ESPN2 was actually upconverted SD, not HD, even on ESPN2HD. Looking at both the TV grid on ESPN's own website and on other TV listing sites, the "HD" logo is missing from the entry for this Monday's Man City vs. Liverpool. This implies that, again, this will not be HD content, despite being on an HD channel. Why ESPN wants to screw over its customers to save a few pennies when an actual HD feed is clearly available for it to use from the Premier League itself, is beyond me.
Once again, one can divide the 2010-2011 EPL into three divisions: Men: Chelsea Manchester United Teens: Arsenal Liverpool Manchester City Tottenham Boys: The rest == EPL is turning into La Liga, with the so-called "Big 4" shrinking into the "Big 2". (I no longer sit through entire matches involving Chelsea or Man Utd vs one of the minnows. Once the scoreline reaches 3-0, I turn off the TV.) == Interesting to see that the "Big 2" are the only ones in the EPL to use their sideline ad boards to "sell" their products, including club memberships and licensed merchandise (especially kits/uniforms), in multiple languages, particularly Simplified Chinese.
