The big question mark you left out is Salgado... Whitecaps will give him another chance soon enough with Miller gone. Finally healthy and scoring again so I think he can be that guy.
I'm gonna wait on Salgado before thinking he's an option for our Olympic team. Right now he's in the same position as guys like Jonathan Top and Jack McBean. Got to start playing at an MLS level and proving he belongs. He's not a 16 year old prospect anymore. He's 20 and has scored one goal at an MLS level. In 15 games for the U18s and U20 national teams he's scored 2 goals. I just need to see more.........................
Yup exactly. That Olympic team should have quite a stacked midfield and some quality wingers (Green, Arriola, Parker, Holmes)... not sure about the forward position though.
Parker may not primarily be a forward over the course of his career, but given his experience there the Olympic team may use him there anyway if he were available. Parker hasn't accomplished all that much in his career yet, but I don't think we have a U23 forward who has done more. Of course, the more rational thing to do would be acknowledge that if we don't have a reasonable target forward, we shouldn't use a formation like a 4-2-3-1 that is highly dependent on one, but.... shoving square pegs into round holes at the YNT level is trendy in US soccer circles.
Presumably not. But if we're talking about who the "next" recruit from abroad could be, I think Shawn Parker is an obvious choice for the reasons Brian mentions. I don't really know how good he is. What I do know is that he has a better chance in our pool than Germany's. And its never bad to have as much depth of talent as possible.
He's been capped twice (??) at the U21 level. I don't know if either were in u21 qualifiers. If they were, you may be right.
He played 19 minutes in a qualifier. http://www.transfermarkt.com/en/montenegro-u21-germany-u21/index/spielbericht_2302366.html
